And there are a number of other parks in Orlando where you can do just that.

To be fair, there’s also a million other places you can go to learn about energy, space, etc. The original Epcot predates Wikipedia, YouTube, and countless platforms to stream nearly unlimited content on a variety of subjects; it’s a flawed concept in today’s world. Back in the ‘80’s, dark rides were a unique and novel way to present information…now, that information can be found elsewhere through much more dynamic and easy-to-update channels, while dark rides over the last 40 years have lost their novelty factor. Given the landscape of media (and theme parks for that matter) today, give me the more visceral thrill 10 times out of 10.

All that info was available in the '80s. Every school and public library had at least one set of current encyclopedias.

Thank goodness. The last thing I want to spend my Saturday doing is learning anything. I spent the last 18 years of my life doing that. I’m happy to go buy eight drinks and ride a roller coaster without being talked down to.

Hell yeah!

I'll just go to IOA then!

Presumably our opening date and a vague hint at DVC/AP previews whose sign-ups will drop later in the week.

Also, I was recently told not to be shocked if this opens ahead of Memorial Day weekend by a week or two (not sure why).

I think they'll make the full opening announcement, from previews to opening day.

Seems pretty definitive now that there are no animatronics anywhere in the attraction (queue or coaster). In a project that cost nearly half a billion dollars, AAs were apparently too costly, as Martin has reported that some were planned for several slower show scenes, but were budget-cut out of existence.

I think a part of the big budget stemmed from them finding out that reusing the UoE building was *not* going to be the cost-effective route they though it would be. And that's the kind of mistake which could've very well led to AA's being cut from the budget.

If I had to bet, it sounds like the song list for the ride will be posted. I’m glad to see they will likely at least include Love Roller Coaster.

It's also getting pretty close to Memorial Day if that's when it's really opening, so i'd expect a date announcement more than anything. Song list would be cherry on top.

I would peg the cost of building the actual attraction closer to 300-350 once you peel off all the stuff that gets tagged onto projects.

In addition to them being easy cuts, I'm beginning to grow really skeptical that WDW wants to deal with the AAs that WDI is making now. Just because you can building something with 300 degrees of freedom doesn't mean that you need to, but WDI doesn't seem to get that and we're all worse off because they won't build "good" AAs but only "the most advanced audio animatronic ever."

Could well be, but that's an unacceptable error on Disney's part to not adequately put in the due diligence to make sure the building you're planning to use can actually sustain what you want to do with it.

Infrastructure, apparently. Because there's sure not going to be much in the ride itself.

I think there's something to this, and it's frustrating. I certainly don't need every animated figure to be state of the art, especially if it's at the expense of filling an attraction with physical/practical elements.

Anyway, here's Zach Riddley hyping some more:

"I cannot wait for Guests to experience this space for themselves, and all that awaits beyond - including some wonderful nods to EPCOT history that I know our favorite EPCOT fans will enjoy."

Considering time and time again Disney has been bitten by wanting to go what they think is the most cost-effective route, it's unfortunately more par for the course than anything.

As for Zach Riddley, I think we should know by now that anything he puts out is going to be a big fluff piece for the simplest of things. I might not be fond of it like most others, but considering he works there I'll take that over any comment from immense shills I've seen elsewhere.
