I was at BGT this evening, currently putting up something small on BGTGuide... this teaser campaign is so innovative!

The site has officially gone live today and Busch Gardens has updated the blog with an interactive game to uncover the new ride.
For several weeks now, guests entering Busch Gardens Tampa Bay have been met with construction walls in the southeastern corner of the park, and many have speculated as to what Busch Gardens is building.
Starting Saturday, June 26, new signs on those construction walls will give curious visitors a taste of what’s to come through the use of some unique new technology. Quick Response – or “QR” – codes featured on the posters invite smart-phone users with a reader app to take a photo of the black and white code. These codes, which look like pixilated bar codes, automatically direct the phone’s web browser to short video clips that will hint at various components of the new attraction, which is scheduled to open in Spring 2011.

If you don’t have a smart phone handy, the signs also announce a new website – www.BuschGardens2011.com – for those interested in watching the videos, becoming a Fan on Facebook, following the park’s blog or signing up for e-mail updates.

“You’ll definitely want to stay engaged with us over the next few months because you won’t believe what we have planned,” said Jim Dean, Busch Gardens’ park president. “For now, we can tell you it will be a one-of-a-kind experience, and we’ve created a fun way to keep our guests informed of its progress.”

I love the idea of an interactive game to unveil the coaster! Hopefully Spring 2011 for BGT isn't the same as Universal's "Spring".

I really hope NOT!! Universal said "OPENING SPRING 2010" and it opened... three days before summer. They have been liars.
But Busch Gardens (and SeaWorld's parks in general) are way more reliable than Universal in opening new rides (see MANTA>HRRR)..

Why can't they just be straight to the point? Those videos show the same clip of (what we assume to be) a cheetah running through the grass. I want a cgi roller coaster video darn it!

Although, I suppose that can be a bad thing, too... especially if something gets cut *cough cough Maverick cough*...... I still love Maverick, though......

Theme parks enjoy the teasers and such, they don't want to announce anything too soon, potter just opened... busch wants to wait for potter mania to fade enough so they start teasing now to get project 2011 mania to start...

Does anyone think they might retheme the skyride station?

If it's going to be used as the station, then yes. They're promoting an "immersive" experience. It better be themed.

Of course, it is very smart. ""We" the themepark enthusiast keep speculating about it, while if you give it all away the information, gone is the suspense, and so all the online discussion about the new ride.

I also like the way they really integrate new media in their campaign, not only a teaser site, but also, mobile, social networks etc.

Only at Busch Gardens Nice

I went yesturday and the construction walls start right after Katonga and extend all down to the Crown Colony House elevator, in order to get to Egypt you have to walk in the back road behind the old Clydesdale Hamlet. I also noticed that the entire area near the skyride building is cleared out.

From Screamscape:

2011 - New Attractions - Semi-Confirmed - (6/28/10) Busch Gardens Tampa has launched a new preview teaser site for the 2011 coaster… aka: Cheetaka. As part of this the park is also posting QR codes on the construction walls that will lead you to this same site and a preview video. QR codes are those square digital barcodes your starting to see here and there that are readable by most barcode scanner programs you can load into your smart phones (Android & iPhones). If you want to view it on your PC, just go to BuschGardens2011.com.
Of course the latest rumors for Cheetaka are quite interesting, claiming that the ride may feature inversions after all as well as a new style vertical tower element. I’ve also heard that the trains put to use here will be a one car longer than what Cedar Point put on Maverick… offering 4 cars (4 seats each) per train.
You can also see some construction updates at RCPro
(6/23/10) A new construction update can be found at BGT Guide this week, but it was also pointed out last week on Johnny Upsidedown’s update that it looks like the first coaster footers have been poured. Now… about this Cheetaka coaster project itself… I’ve heard that perhaps we don’t have all the details on it yet. Perhaps there is a chance that it may have a buried inversion or two in the trenches… as well as a vertical plunge at one point. More as we find out.

What a minute. It's going to be similar to Maverick?! That's AWESOME! I love Maverick. I can't wait to see this coaster now!

Wow three launches, inversion, speed, AND steep drops? Of course these are still rumors, but this coaster has it all. Lets just hope for lap bars.

Well if we are getting inversions, I wouldn't count on lap bars, sadly.

It is sounding more impressive as each rumor comes in though. I can't wait until we actual get offical information!

While it'll be cool if Screamscape is right, Screamscape also said that there would be wands that could be remote controls for your TV and that they would cost upwards from 100 dollars at the WWoHP... So I take whatever they say with a grain of salt. However, this new attraction sounds really cool... I'll try and stay with the project, as it does sound interesting...

While you should always take any rumor with a grain of salt Lance has a very good Busch gardens source and has a past of getting a lot of info to us the readers long before an announcement .

For these launches, though-- regardless of how many there are-- do you think they're going to be stop-and-go (like Maverick) or will they be more along the lines of speed boosters?

I am going with one launch and two speed boosters. The main thing for me is that this is an Intamin project. If this works out, it could mean some serious airtime machines coming to Florida finally.
