Luigi’s mansion isn’t something that would make too much sense to me other than the public’s knowledge of Luigi.

Luigi's Mansion has not only been the best selling franchise of sub-series Mario games (surpassing Donkey Kong and Yoshi), it's arguably been among Nintendo's largest properties in recent years.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is the 17th best selling game on the Switch, with 14 million copies sold, surpassing games like Splatoon 2, Super Mario Maker 2, and Kirby & The Forgotten Land. It's a very strong series in its own right.

I think Kirby would be a good pick, especially with it tying into a space themed hub for the park... I think the merch potential is enough to give it a thought.

Speaking of alternatives to join LM for SNW expansion, based on some murmurs of Rosalina merch in the Nintendo Store (which seems to be giving the biggest hints at the moment) I was actually formulating an ideas for a Rosalina section of the expansion that would go in that sliver that actually does connect to Celestial for obvious reasons.

My basic idea given the small width of that area is to build tall, LM wants multiple stories too but for this I mean really tall, as tall as they can, but closed off so the inside would be a low-light facade mimicking an exaggerated starry space (outside just needs to look magical, Nintendo-y, and pleasant). At the bottom you'd have Rosalina's Observatory in the middle of a false bottom glass floor so it looks suspended in space and it would be the ride que for what I imagine to be a flying coaster built up into the wall down the center with the coaster itself painted to be "invisible" against the starry night. The idea is the first half would be nothing but coaster launches upwards on the outer perimeter fabricated to look like *these*. You'd travel past SMG planet props meant to seem large and far away with the right visual trickery and you keeping launching until you get to the very top where you would start to swirl around a large focal point like a Blackhole or a Star or something like a whirlpool. Then finally as you reach that focal point you enter a downward loop in the middle where you just keep swirling an swirling all the way down. So kind of like a very tall and very expensive slide or gumball machine except you're floating instead of sliding.

Simple pathing, probably not simple to build, family oriented, and to my understanding Flight coasters have more annoying reqs compared to a simple sit down coaster but I think it would be really cool idea and maximize the transition space back into Celestial. also I'm told launches help with capacity, and this will have them in droves.

Finally to make the transition into LM, the original Mansion has an extremely fun section where you enter an observatory room that breaks out into weird space where you walk along a star path to blow up the moon using ghost magic and like... just do that and make the observatory room the transition to LM land, even if idea is also in LM ride itself, that section is cool enough to use twice. All together that would truly complete

Didn’t realize it was that popular. I think an “animal crossing” play area , like a mini town , etc , could be a good idea too.

When they committed to build a Universal Monsters land, they may not have known what the reception would be in terms of demographics, fandom, year-round appeal (there were "doubters" among the early commentators, which has seemed to fade away). I think the land could justifiably be larger to accommodate the likely traffic and interest (and it's a Universal-owned IP so they're not paying out royalties on all the food and retail dollars).

I'm just seeing this now, but yes - from my understanding, there was hesitation at first. I know amongst my sources, there was a little bit of "will they or won't they?".

I'm glad they committed, though!

It wouldn't even have to be anything crazy other than a kids play area and a shop and/or restaurant. Maybe even a simple flat ride.
I would personally love to see something like the Sylvanian Families Park in Japan x Animal Crossing:

Things that would benefit Epic Universe the most after park open:
  1. A Nintendo expansion with no height requirement rides included - Animal Crossing and Kirby mini lands (play area, flat ride each, M&Gs), with a Luigi's Mansion dark ride as the big addition. Ideally all three rides would have no height requirement.
  2. Something for non thrill seekers in Dark Universe - it can still be scary or creepy, just not something tied to a lot of speed or motion. The Creature ride sounds like it'd be a unique addition.
  3. An indoor ride for Berk. It could be Universal's take on Soarin/FOP, or it could be something more like Peter Pan/ET 2.0. Not everyone likes shows and it'd be good to have a ride here for when it rains.
  4. An expansion that brings fresh ideas to the park - outer space, wild west, Hill Valley, Amity, Oz, just something that doesn't feel too redundant with whatever else is in the park already.

Creature needs to be Jaws 3.0. I miss that ride so freaking much.

With that in mind, would it be safe to assume that an expansion to Dark Universe should be top of their list for EU? From all accounts it seems to be on everyones most anticipated lands/rides, and its an in-house IP for Universal. Should be a no-brainer

I also think the people love Luigi and their expensive Luigi merch. However, If what everyone's saying about the Monsters ride is true, then DU/Creature expansion probably gets bumped up in the expansion queue.

From a Uni perspective, I think the Ministry should be the top. That's the one they really wanted to end on a high note.

With that said, A LOT of love went into DU and I think they realize they have something special there, too.

I think this probably would be the highest priority if there was actually a concept they were excited about, but all of the locations from the films are mostly tapped and I don't think they're making a Fantastic Beasts ride anytime soon.

The size of the expansion plot, the fact that the retail for Ministry is mostly already built out, and the need to end with a great Potter attraction is why, at least in my opinion, a Potter expansion will probably take longer than the alternatives.

Unless it's the Great Hall. That would be an addition worth fasttracking.

I think Universal will know what they want to fast-track within a week or 2 of opening day.

Considering how Battle of the Ministry might not make it for opening day, my money would be on a Dark Universe expansion with obviously Nintendo being a close second.

Let's just hope this isn't at the expense of poor USF. It needs Pokemon badly after the F&F coaster comes online.

I’m still worried about the timelines for all of this, but, they just built an entire new park relatively quickly given all factors. They can handle multiple projects at a time moving forward without redoing roadways, building new hotels, new hubs, staffing, building a new land is waayyyyy different than this projects scale. I hope it’s all faster than we think like the Universal of the 2010’s.
