If IOA didn't exist, you can guarantee that if Universal were building a new park now, JP, Potter and Marvel would be built (Obviously Marvel wouldn't work but you know what I mean).

I think if DC goes, I'd be happy if a coaster wasn't built but only if a coaster was built in JP. I think the Flying Dinosaur would be a good fit plus it would add a dynamic to the park entrance when you look over the water.

Now that's an idea I can get behind.

Not to go off topic but it's scary how well Manta would fit into JP using the Discovery Center as a station.

I just don't get the appeal of a lightly-themed steel coaster for Jurassic Park. I want more dinosaurs in the flesh, so to speak, but that's just me!

To try and get this back on topic and I think this applies to JP and Potter. If a big coaster is made but is very low key in terms of track in that it kind of blends into the environment, would a very elaborate queue and short dark ride sequence be enough theming?

It's bad enough we had DC looming over Hogsmeade station. Now you guys want something over the Discovery Center?

No thanks.

Hypothetically? Sure. But at least as it relates to Dragon Challenge, if the coaster section in the theoretical replacement would be as intense as Dragon Challenge is, then we'd be trading one attraction I don't ride for another attraction I wouldn't ride. And so it would be with an attraction of similar intensity in Jurassic Park. I'm sure I'm in the minority when it comes to big coasters (I can't handle inversions), but my preference would obviously be for them to build attractions that are either more heavily-themed coasters (on the order of Expedition Everest or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad) or dark rides.

Not over, through it. The current state of the discovery center is a joke. Even just the bottom floor would do.

I wouldn't call it a direct trade. I think they need to replace it with a coaster for balance of the park but there's way more than enough room for a decent sized coaster and a big dark ride.

And coasters don't do a whole lot for attendance either. For how great Mako reportedly is, it didn't help Sea World's attendance at all. In fact, it continued to drop. I'd rather have a dark ride, hybrid attraction, indoor coaster, or even a new simulator (horror of it ) in a real Theme Park (like Universal or Disney) over an outdoor coaster any day. And they (outdoor coasters) ain't purdy either. Universal will have one for each park once DC goes down. That's just the right amount for a Theme Park.

I think SeaWorld have it's own issues.

In a dream world, I'd have a wing coaster (It's new to Orlando and not as intense) and a dark ride with a multi layered design similar to what we're seeing rumoured for Nintendo. The coaster doesn't need to be tall, overly intense or even invert but fast would be preferable. If they go for the forest idea, low to ground with near misses should keep it hidden and exciting. I'd also go for a launch to avoid a lift hill.

Ok, to sum up what we actually know.

At IAAPA, Dynamic Attractions announced that someone in Orlando has purchased a SFX Coaster.

We also have a strong rumor DC is closing around labor day.

That's about it.

I did the wing coaster at Hershey Park when it opened a few years ago. It was nothing special. Never even bothered a second ride on it....Coasters are for Six Flags & Cedar Fair.

I think I'm the right condition it can work. I've never been on a wing coaster but it sounds like a love it or hate it thing. What I really want is some terrain changes, Orlando is just so god damn flat it drives me crazy at times.

All this is wishful thinking, even more so now when @Disneyhead puts his cards on the table above.

Indoor themed coaster with outdoor elements for HP expansion.....Dynamic website features SFX Indoor coaster.....Dave (Disneyhead) has been talking about an indoor themed coaster replacement for DC for a good while.... This could be great fun & thrills both, and purdy if inside.

If that's how it were to play out, I'd be totally satisfied. Assuming the quality of the attractions was high, it would be a win for several different types of theme park fans.

Isn't that just what Gringotts is? I just watched their dragon video of it.

I didn't know I wanted this as much as I do until I went to Dollywood and BGW. Both of those parks work the terrain into the park so well I wish we had some kind of semblance of that in Florida.

That's kinda why the idea of a Verbolten-style Forbidden Forest is so interesting to me. It gives Uni a chance to make a highly themed and environmental dark ride/coaster a la the parks I mentioned earlier.

Yes, BGW terrain is awesome for coasters. The old Loch Ness still is the winner with those drops into the lake. Big Bad Wolf drop into the lake was cool also.

No, if I'm not mistaken, Gringotts is from Intamin (which also had a part in the creation of the Hogwart's Express).

As it stands now, I believe that the Dynamic SFX coaster; IS the replacement. And that, people will need to take an eye out on Ferrari World in the coming months ahead, as they will be the first with the ride technology.
