IF it's a Fantastic Beasts ride, all it'll take is a quick one-day shoot while they're filming the next movie, which is supposed to release in 2018, anyway

If they replace 2 coasters with one, wouldn't that affect ride times with the other rides in the park?

I see why you would say that but not, necessarily.

To be honest, I hope whatever Dragons is replaced with is well I cooperated into Potter. I dislike Dragons themeing for Potter. Once you get off of the train in Hogsmede, Dragons just seems out of place.

The trio have decided to move on. I respect that. There is an entire Wizarding World of material out there to use. Let Universal Creative be creative.

NBCUniversal Places Big Bet on ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Fantastic Beasts’ - WSJ

I'm guessing this is just adding more fuel to the fire.

Fantastic Beasts is set in a wizarding world 70 years before IOA's themed version of Hogsmeade, in the 1920's. I honestly don't feel they'll throw it in there, not with how perfectly both that area and USF's areas are themed to the time in the Potterverse that they're respectively set.

Could they intertwine 2 more coaster so we have all 4 dragons :)

Fantastic Beasts should go near MIB because isn't that themed to New York worlds fair ? about the same timeline too ?

We know Newt writes a textbook that's used at Hogwarts. He can show up as a wizarding world moving portrait or he pops out of the book as a guide or something.

The World's Fair setting was from 1964. That would put it roughly 40 years later. It also had a future/space age theme to it that just did not exist in the 1920s.

This would be an excellent way to make it work.

It seems weird that Hogsmeade would get a Fantastic Beasts ride. I always imagined the third park would get an entire Fantastic Beasts land. I could see some kind of Forbidden Forest ride with a light Fantastic Beasts connection. Just enough to run some ad campaigns around the movie.

Plus, the Great Hall. I am so convinced that they'll be a Great Hall or some kind of Hogswarts interior walk through type thing.

If Universal didn't work the Great Hall into Japan or Hollywood I doubt it's on their minds at all.

I don't think the Great Hall was anything more than a Jim Hill fabrication anyway

IMO the only way to get a Hogwarts Restaurant into Hogsmeade (based on the books) is if they stole Story Time with Belles entrance. They need a portrait of Arianne Dumbledore that leads you through some winding tunnel (not unlike the queue of Dragons) as a back entrance into the castle. Unfortunately, Hogs Head is on the wrong side of the park for that to make sense.

Anyone hear anything about when they might announce the closure?

Here's a far fetched and unlikely idea, but what if JK Rowling wrote a whole new story just for an attraction. Something that adds to the HP universe and then could only be experienced by visiting the park.

I personally feel that JKR should go back to writing books and then allow screenplay writers to help her in distilling them into movie scripts.

FWIW she didn't write the script for Cursed Child. She just helped with the story. She did write the script for Fantastic Beasts, though.

I like what she's doing. It makes the universe feel more varied.
