Considering how lame the new Hulk storyline turned out, I wouldn't hold out too much hope for a decent Avengers attraction. The entire ride might be show scenes of you just missing an Avenger flying by.

I Tried reading everything to follow the plot line on Hulk. Managed to read all the early stuff in line. By the time I got to the video about the actual testing I moved by so quickly I didn't see more than 5 or 10 seconds of it. There was no way for me to follow the plot of this coaster, but I did enjoy some of the humor and the inside jokes.

Kong demonstrated that Universal knows how to make a great, entertaining queue. Hulk demonstrated they aren't exactly batting a thousand.

Maybe it's just me, but a story is the last thing I care about before riding a roller coaster.

I would prefer to be entertained in any line I'm waiting in. Besides, if you're going to have a plot then tell it well.

Yes, they set the bar now live up to it. I want something in the queue beside switchback and sweaty people

Of course, but I still think the queue does just that. There is tons to look at, but I do wish they had put interactive portions into the queue.

Usually I never care much about the storyline, if it looks good and the ride itself is good, that is really all that matters to me.

This. So much, this. I didn't really need a storyline for Haunted Mansion. It was haunted. Enough said. Same with Pirates. Creepy cave, skeletons, Dead Men Tell No Tales, Plundering, We Wants The Redhead. Got it. No story really needed.

I agree with what you are saying and I tend not to think about the story being told on a ride, but I surprised myself with Pirates.

I went to WDW at least once a year from '71 to '84. I'm sure I went a couple of times in the early to mid '90's. When I finally got around to having a family of my own, we started to go to Disney in 2006.

I guess at some point Pirates got semi concerned about political correctness or something. The scene use to have pirates chasing women and then the last one was a bigger woman chasing a pirate with a rolling pin, it always got a laugh back in the day and the scene as a whole told a story...when I first saw it in 2006, I think it is now all the women chasing the pirates, it is no longer a scene with a humorous ending, so I do think there was a time when Disney knew how to tell a story for their rides....even if 'if you had wings' was a commercial for Eastern Airlines.

If we're going to be so concerned with PC, no ride should be about pirates as they were actually terrible criminals. Back to Dragon's Challenge. The ride covers a good deal of land and they should be able to get a storyline tie-in to Harry Potter without too much trouble. They just tried to reimage DD into DC and it didn't completely take.

An intense queue experience would be nice actually, have a Dragon AA in the queue (can't ever have too many of those), or a Forbidden Forest type of queue, have it set up so that people who don't want to ride can just go through the queue. If they can do a queue like the Kong one, they should be able to have a great queue experience for Dragon Challenge.

If it's one thing Universal can do well, it's a pine scented queue. If ET is on the chopping block, that would be a nice homage.

The minds behind Universal Parks & Resorts’ attractions are looking to merge the theme park ride with video games — possibly with a Harry Potter theme. At least that’s what a patent dubbed Video Game Ride from NBCUniversal subsidiary Universal City Studios LLC is trying to do.

Specifically, the patent is aimed at creating a vehicle "configured to receive respective inputs from one or more riders via the vehicle interface circuitry, and wherein the respective inputs are related to one or more game features of a game environment; and a game controller configured to receive information from the vehicle interface circuitry related to the respective inputs; and provide instructions to modify the game environment based on at least one of the respective inputs.”

The patent uses the example of a "wizard-themed game" that could have riders use different wands associated with characters and use those wands at specific moments to score points, competing with opposing teams or to accomplish a joint goal. "In certain embodiments, the score input may include input from external sensors that capture player motion, such as wand motion, and provide the motion characteristics as input to a score determination algorithm. If the wand motion is associated with a particular spell that is an effective spell for the game, the player's score may be updated to indicate a successful 'freezing spell' or other spell has been cast," said the patent.

Wouldn't it be more better suited for Nintendo and not Potter?

I would die if this replaced dragon challenge. Like die in a good way. This sounds amazing.

I can imagine this e-ticket taking up 60-70% of the previous DC space, and then the other 30-40% of the land put towards Hogsmeade expansion. Well, nothing could make my Monday any better.

This would be awesome in conjunction with trackless... imagine what you did effects where the car goes next... it could have multiple variations so the ride changes depending on whats done :)

If there's an immersive, interactive dark ride in exchange for it, heck ya.

EDIT: Personal preference, obviously everyone's going to have their own opinion.
