I actually think the content would be a big issue. Horror fans going to the event inevitably root for the bad guys, Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Klowns, etc. The more creative the scares and kills, the better. So to have you "rooting" for the invisible man, enjoying his kills, enjoying his scares, etc in this day and age, just having ONE victim of abuse saying that they were offended and hurt and the real pain they experienced/continue to experience in manifested in this character in a house that people are actively rooting for....That could be "very problematic". Hell, people are going back 20 years watching old David Letterman interviews pointing out problems with them. If you think there won't be past victims of domestic abuse and slowflakes just looking for the next thing they can cancel (and I'm clearly delineating the two, not lumping them together at all) that latch onto this, I think you're greatly mistaken. They don't even need to attend, just announce that you are having the house and twitter will be filled with "Wow, why is Universal glorifying domestic abuse!?!?!?" comments that will take on a life of their own.
It's not worth the risk when there are literally thousands of other horror IPs to choose from that don't carry that potential. It's just too hot of a topic at this moment (yes, I realize Freddy is an alleged child molester, though I think the remake portrayed him as wrongly accused?, Michael as a child stabbed his sister to death with scissors, and Leatherface murders people and wears their skin on his face, and Clowns trick children into liking/trusting them and put them into cacoons and drink their guts. They're all bad, but not just an incidiary topic at the moment).
