Obviously I’m very well aware that as “divisive as Eilish” is part of said clue that you’re trying to find the answer for that you’re not going to get officially until months from now. However what is not part of said clue are your deeply misogynistic comments negating her success, claiming her inclusion was the furthest thing from Halloween and horror when you should know well enough that’s wrong, etc., etc., etc. since. day. one. What I’m hung up on is constantly having intervene over your petty snide remarks. I am a fan and even I’m sick of talking about her here—yet you’re obviously not and you still can’t help yourself from stoking the flames, so if anyone is starting anything you should probably take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror and, also, what you’re typing before you hit Post Reply.

Gender has nothing to do with this. I love Bjork and a lot of her imagery is horror-adjacent, especially her work with her ex-husband Matthew Barney. But if I heard a rumor that HHN was considering a Bjork house, I’d be like wtf that doesn’t fit in with the event despite my bias towards her.

You compare the Eilish situation to people like Rob Zombie or Alice Cooper. Those artists have music AND imagery related to horror and Halloween. While Eilish chose horror-like visuals for one album, the music didn’t match and the reason she didn’t come back was her second album cycle didn’t have any horror adjacent content. She even wore a wig to events to conceal her change of image. To me, it comes off as inauthentic.

While you presented a good example with Penn & Teller being far away from the concepts of horror and Halloween, the execution of the house played like an original B-movie horror/Sci fi concept. It was actually pretty fun and worked out well with the event although not a home run. I agree the Eilish house could have had some interesting design choices, but we’ll never know because she chose to do something different. Give me the opportunity to participate in designing a house and I’m doing ANY to make that happen.

Bring this back to speculation, I brought it up again because I feel like horror fans LOVE What We Do In The Shadows and this IP we’re discussing really has to create a similar knee jerk reaction to what Eilish brought to the community.

Roanoke: Cannibal Colony had similar period costuming to what a pirate house might have. The gunfire and specifically cannon effect in Ghost Town: The Curse of Lighting Gulch are somewhat things I'd expect in a pirate house.

Joking aside it's really something I'd like to see. I think things get tricky separating anything involving pirates with Pirates of the Caribbean. If they're just living pirates then it just becomes Pirates of the Pancreas.

I have no idea who that is, but I looked her up and she totally deserves an HHN house! I love that imagery, it's very reminiscent of Eilish and what I imagine her house would have been! Hopefully they'll consider doing an artist like her or Eilish again in the future.

I did read your post in it’s entirety but frankly it didn’t resonate with me because the second you said “gender has nothing to do with it” I checked out. If you truly believe gender has nothing to do with that, then due to a privilege I don’t have we will have to agree to disagree.

For the last time as this is, again, unnecessarily clogging the thread up, your own personal opinions on whether she belonged at HHN have absolutely nothing to do with the clue being about a divisive IP. You can discuss an IP being divisive without adding unimportant and uniformed commentary on the authenticity of her art. We debated that topic ad nauseam when she was going to have a house at HHN, now that she’s no longer a presence in the lineup, the topic of whether her inclusion is warranted or not is irrelevant. Please refrain from making said unnecessary digs in the future.

Not to add too much more fuel to this absolute trash can fire of a speculation storm, but I do feel like y'all stepped right over MiB when it was brought up...

It checks all the boxes (divisive among hardcore horror fans because it is horror adjacent, literally meta given the potential for proximity to the ride, not based on a video game, the list goes on), except for the potential to headline. I've seen the ride pull numbers, but I can say with confidence the average person isn't going to book a trip down based off of a series that arguably hasn't had a good entry since the original (...25 years ago)

Throwing around the term misogyny when discussing what fits and what doesnt at a Halloween theme park event truly reduces that term for actual real life misogyny - evil MFers wanting to take away women’s rights through pay inequality, the prohibition of reproductive rights, and silencing victims of assault and abuse. I am not one of those people.

If Rob Zombie had a house planned but changed his look by cutting off his dreads, dying his hair blonde, and wearing a polo and changing his musical style to be a 1950s crooner, and that house got cut, I’d also think that was lame and inauthentic. And I’d mock him too.

You keep arguing that, but the Billie house wasn't controversial because of her look change. She was still in her horror era when the house was supposed to happen. The two are literally unrelated yet you keep correlating the two as if that's why people had an issue with it and why it was "divisive". It wasn't going to be the "furthest HHN has strayed from horror" going off every single leak out there. It fit pretty snug right in the horror realm yet you like to insist it's not simply because of the name attached to it.
