What is the guess of Express being open at 2? I would NOT use mine. I'm just curious if they don't want ANY express bogging down the 2 to 4:30 lines, OR, they WANT people using up express early before the regular crowd shuffles in.

Both perfectly appealing ideas to me. Either one puts a dent in standby times, and as a radical standby-only girl, that's exactly what I've been waiting for.

Anything I do prior to 8pm is an appetizer and will be doing again later in the night since those early runs never seem to be fully staffed. If I like those 3 houses it would be great to knock them out (or at least 2 of them,) do a few rides, and then do runs through 3 tents from 5-7. I don’t think people will line up for them hours in advance, most SS people dont seem to show up for HHN until 3-4 and I doubt most of them be able to get there earlier, I really think this is for us vacationers and the main effect will be that the back half of the park will not be dead at the start of the event. If the end result is me getting done earlier that’s a win for me. I’m getting older, pushing past midnight keeps getting harder and harder.

Yeah I am firmly in the camp of "I am absolutely not using my Express prior to 5PM"

I hope not. I’m already worried the waits for these houses will be 2-3 hours and we’ll only get to do 1, maybe 2 of these houses before the event starts. If they do standby only, it helps the line to go faster.

It’s four hours of time vs previous one. I think folks are really overselling the amount of folks doing this new S&S.

It is, but for whom? Will the single night guests really want to start at 2? Will they know to? Or will this be the FF die-hards, who'll just marathon the houses to get their run numbers up, then continue to hang out after 6.

I'm not ungrateful for the attempt to combat lines--at least Universal is addressing the #1 complaint. But as I've alluded to in previous posts, it's going to take an overhaul of the event itself, rather than addressing crowds on the margins.

Just so I know - what time have they been formally announcing houses? I always get thrown off because I'm in a different time zone. Still holding out hope Ozzy drops today, but I may just be wishing all by myself.

Some have been 1035 EDT/1535 BST (40 mins from now) with I think some at 1200/1700 (2 hours) or 1300/1800 (3 hours) but not 100% on those exactly.

EDIT: EDB was 1200 EDT/1700 BST yesterday. I think most of them followed that time, but I definitely remember the earlier time for some announcement(s) but maybe that wasn't for houses?

It won’t be 10:35 as that’s Orlando only. Ozzy will be shared so we looking at 12-2.

Sorry for the double post mods but @hunnylvr may be getting her announcement today after all as I just saw on twitter the queue outside the 5&10 is set up.

Right? How do you completely miss what everyone is talking about today? They've been hyping this for weeks! I follow the Birmingham site, and they are doing it up BIG for him as we speak. Sharon said we should all be blasting Ozzy today and Jack wants people to send him stories about his Dad. Come on, Uni - don't blow this one!

I won't want to start at 2  though I'm doing HHN on arrival day, so I'll be beat from travel & come closer to event start or right after. I usually do most houses once, anyway. Happy for folks who get extra time, but I'll be probably using it to nap

Old age has me exhausted by 10pm. Thus, getting started at 2pm and wrapping up around 9pm sounds perfect for me.

It is adding more capacity, yes.

There are *some* people who will use this additional time to stay in the park longer, as you mentioned. This might not benefit the rest of us here, but this is additional time in park the attendees will be purchasing food and drink (potentially). The added time in park, whether it benefits us or not, is huge for Universal's numbers, and is added capacity.

There may also be new attendees, who wouldn't have made a visit if not for the fact that there's now 2pm access. This is likely a smaller subset of people, again it doesn't "help" the rest of us as this actually potentially increases the queue times. But it's called added capacity regardless. When Disney or Universal adds a new attraction, the intent from their end is to bring in new people, which those new people are going to naturally go on all rides not just the new one. The only benefit to the other park guests, from a wait times perspective, is if the new attraction holds more people into that queue compared to the number of new guests coming through the gate. But regardless of this ratio, it's called added capacity.

Finally, regarding how it benefits us from a wait times perspective... *most* people have a breaking point for how long they can stay in the park, which is far below the maximum time allowed in the park (from early entry to one hour after close). Adding park hours, whether they be early entry or not, will naturally result in many people (those earlier entry people) leaving earlier in the day, resulting in shorter lines later.

Anecdotally; I'm taking half day PTO every Thursday and will start the day (with my party of 3) at the park at 1pm. With that added 3 hours to hit HHN, I will very likely leave earlier in the night (feeling more "fulfilled" earlier than I did last year). Depending on wait times during that early entry, I may also avoid the longer, 100+ minute wait lines, especially if I got those houses done earlier in the day. Me + my two party members hitting these houses earlier and avoiding longer lines will naturally lower the wait times throughout later times of the night. That's just me, and I'm betting tons of other people (but not everyone) are in a similar boat, which should have an impact on wait times (whether it is small or not).

LOL! "Old age".. dude, you're 40. I've got 19 years on you and still push it until at least 1am. :) Though, I'm practically dead by then, so there's that.

While I will probably do a few early house runs if the waits are low - something feels fundamentally wrong about doing 1/3 of the houses in broad daylight at 2PM

It starts at 2pm vs 2025 where it started around 5pm (for early entry) or do I have something mistaken?

They've been great about preventing outdoor light from bleeding in. I have no issues personally; I typically wear very dark sunglasses (30+ minutes) to help my eyes adjust. (This was even more critical as a scareactor where tripping due to my eyes not being adjusted was a serious safety risk.)

I was thinking total amount of time between the two offerings, not saying we get four more hours than last year.

Oh I didn't even mean it because of light bleeding in, I just meant that something feels off about being 1/3 done with the houses, hours before HHN even starts lol
