I'm honestly really heartbroken if this is true. It's my most anticipated property this year. If so, I doubt we will ever obtain this property for any HHN.

At least it didn't end up like the Orlando Scream/The Purge fiasco. Thankfully this would be happening before all mazes are deep into the construction phase.

So we lost the Conjuring, huh? Wow that really sucks. That was going to be my most-anticipated house. Thankfully this, didn't happen DURING construction. Really sorry to hear we lost it.

Word on the street is that the replacement will be the Thing. We had a similar fiasco is '12 with AWiL/TCM. That happened a bit later in the game and that house SUCKED. Thankfully, they still have time to design it. I doubt this will be a top 10 house, but I'm sure it will be good since they'll have time to work on it.

Normally when one has more time to work on something it'll be better, but it's been proven before that's not always the case.

Saw is the Law was rushed.
AWiL (when it eventually debuted), had more time put into it.

Saw is the Law had the legit excuse it was rushed.
AWiL on the other hand, there's no excuse for the garbage maze that was presented.

Hmmm….the latest response I see is that several insiders are backing the Conjuring mess. I think we should expect the Thing.

Was it the animatronics or the environment that sucked?

I have heard that Murdy/ Universal Execs. are fighting for Conjuring from a source, at least on Hollywood's end

HHN does not use animatronics. Sorry to be "that guy":saw:

They do use puppets and a type of pneumatics though.

First off with the puppets, nowhere near the same quality as Orlando's. Orlando's were super fluid and had a great range of movement, looked great and the puppeteers were agressive as all hell. Hollywood's on the other hand, they looked alright, but the biggest issue is they clearly didn't have the same kind of movement. In fact it looked like they were limited on how they could move, so the scares didn't have the same kind of punch. (A great example is any scene where the wolf is attacking another actor. For Orlando the actors and puppets were really able to thrash around to sell the scene, while with Hollywood's it looked more like the actors were struggling to move the puppets around.)

Then you have the set design, where Orlando had literally no dead space of theming. You transitioned from one scene to the next effortlessly. Hollywood? For like the first half of the maze, every scene was seperated by a empty black hallway. It was awkward as all heck. Then there were odd choices like having a alley scene with a full body wolf standing on top of a crate...allowing you to easily see the mechanisms to move it underneath. There was also little things like the transformation scene where the mid-transformed David on his back looked more like a stiff manniquin. (While Orlando's had some visable movement to it.)

The only thing I'll give Hollywood is their nightmare scene with the Nazi werewolves was better then Orlando's, but that's it. AWiL is one of my favorite horror films of all time (It was also my first.), so while it was fantastic seeing Orlando knock it clear out of the park as one of their best houses in history, I was beyond dissapointed seeing how Hollywood's turned out.

AWIL is one of the few :p Orlando mazes that have completely knocked Hollywoods version out of the park.

I see. For me, I think the makeup/masks were a bit better than Orlando's since they were more screen accurate. But then again, Orlando don't really use prosthetics in their mazes (I think it was because of temperature and the risk of having them melt? Idk, my memory's a bit faded. You could already tell since I called them animatronics instead of puppets, which is a habit of mine). But as a maze itself, yeah It's definitely worst than Orlando's.

I remember in 2009 we were supposed to have gotten The Wolfman, just like Orlando, but for some reason it ended up getting switched for My Bloody Valentine. The maze wasn't terrible, but considering it was when we still only got 4 mazes, one of them being HoH redressed, it was overshadowed significantly by both Saw and Halloween. That being said, I completely understand the frustration, being that The Conjuring would've been a completely new IP, only to get replaced by an IP that isn't. I honestly think this year's three most popular/crowded lined mazes are gonna be Blumhouse, AHS, and The Shining.

I can't verify this but I heard the reason that happened is because Lionsgate wanted to promote My Bloody Valentine and threatened to pull the plug on saw.

Yup. I remember this. I think that may have been even later in the game when that's gor canceled. MBV turned out to be pretty good.

Do you think it will be the Overlook, or something else? It seems like John avoids doing large-scale facades, so my guess is it won't be the hotel.

I don't think it will be the Hotel either. I just don't want him to pull a AHS. He might use kensington hotel as the Facade which was used in the film in the scenes where Danny first experiences "The Shining".
