^ JK strictly said no holiday lay overs, so I doubt we'll ever get a WWoHP scare zone.

I'd LOVE a Simpsons inspired scare zone in there, but as we know, Murdy wouldn't.

I'd love one too, and I believe Murdy has stated it's not the fact that he wouldn't, but the fact that he doesn't wanna put these scare actors in such costumes that perform such tasks disabling body movement or making it uncomfortable enough to scare at all. 


If we do get a scare zone in Springfield, you better believe it will be generic though.

This made me laugh... Did you forget during our "After Party" nights we had the daytime vampires on the loose in the Krustyland Plaza doing their street show & then running around free scaring guests near Lard Lads all the way to the Studio Tour. 

Oh yeah I remember them! but you also have to remember, at least from my experience (first after party night), that it was nowhere close to the usual amount of attendants during the normal season.

That snarky comment reminds me when earlier this year someone asked about the Exorcist coming.. long before it was announced too.. he replied something along the lines of "well I've been trying without any luck for 10 years.. sigh". For some reason reminds me of that.

Personally... I wouldn't want Jack the Clown here in Hollywood, but that is my own personal biased due to being friends with the guy who has been the face/voice of Jack since he appeared in 2000-2015. Sure my other friend who was on the alternate cast for last year's show was perfect as Jack, along with another guy.. that is a role that not just anyone can fill in for. I'd love to see an icon for Hollywood's event, but until we get someone in charge of creating the event that wants to actually put in the effort to create an amazing event that ties into said icon somehow... it will forever be wishful thinking. All we can hope for is that Murdy pulls whatever bug he has up his butt out & does something cohesive with the entrance SZ & Terror Tram... that is the only thing resembling a theme we will be getting under his Reign of Kong Terror

I don't mind the idea of a Springfield scarezone, but really feel like choices are limited considering the surrounding environment. What can they do that fits in with the theme of that area? Clownz? Freakz? Kinda overplayed.

You're not thinking 4th dimensionally... SZs don't have to fit into the theme of whatever land they are located within. That's very limiting. You can do just about any theme if you really be creative enough. And while Clownz/Freakz might be overplayed... they can still be done in new & inventive ways (as long as Murdy isn't the one creating them). You don't have to go for straight-up scary for scarezones either. Take Orlando's "Treaks & Foons" from HHN 2002 for example.. those twisted "freaks" & "toons" were fun & still provided scares. As I mentioned before, you could play into the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant meltdown angle like Orlando did in 2003 with "Toxic City". If you want to play into the land itself, don't rely on it being Simpsons, rely on it being a cartoon realm & create a demented cartoon world or something.

I think there was a very similar response Murdy made last year when UOR was going thru that drama with the owners of the Scream license.

John confirmed that 747 isn't being used this year due to production needs. I wonder if that means we are keeping Parisian since he didn't say anything about it?

What exactly does he mean by Building a maze in front of it? Does he mean that there will be a tent where the line would be usually located for 747 or is that referring to Doris?


If he means that there will be more than one tent on the Backlot, then that kind-of means that he hasn't lost the location (due to it being as close as it is to 747). The question lies to me on how they may handle the line flow to accommodate the change if that is the case.

HHN fans, time for an update courtesy of the latest Twitter Q&A with John Murdy. Here's a quick rundown.



*We lost Soundstage 747 because of "production needs" so the maze will instead go right outside of 747, my guess is where the queue would have normally gone..
*Scarezones will be done differently this year out of necessity.
*There are two specific "big puppets" that will feature in the mazes.
*The maze codenamed "Doris Day" will be going in the tent outside Soundstage 747.
*The Jurassic Park queue maze will be the next one announced, after Walking Dead opens.
*The Exorcist maze will make you feel like you're possessed.
*The Terror Tram is still an original story but now they've joined forces with an "entity"..
*No musician mazes but John talked to Slash on the phone today.. does that count? LOL
*Walking Dead will feature special effects that could never be pulled off in an HHN maze and yes, part of the maze was designed to be changeable depending on where the show goes in the future.

as for Scarezones being done differently, maybe that can be a hint to the rumor of Projection Mapping this year? I'm just spitballing, but its a guess nethertheless.

which means trams to the backlot could return. Unless 25 isn't used and we return to Route 666 and use the FDTD venue

Well then; I would say that we get three mazes on the backlot, two in LL, and two in the UL (3 if you count the Terror Tram into the mixture).

So the long walk returns. Hopefully they theme it to a scarezone from the start of the event
