Well, I thought we had decided it will be connected to Skull Island. Skull island won't be using the Jackson aesthetic.

Well, they used Jackson's Kong footage for the Comic-Con Skull Island promo right? I find it logical that they are going to connect the two visually.

I'm pretty sure the Kong shown in the footage was a brand new design. I never saw anyone say it was the Jackson version. Nothing from a quick google search tells me one way or another

EDIT: The only thing I could find was a random tweet by someone from the ComingSoon.net who said Kong did not look like the Peter Jackson version

Similar, but not the same. The Jackson model has the protrusions in columns, the rockwork frame does not. EDIT: Of course, they could add more, but the different sizes don't match up with the Jackson model either.

Besides, I think the facade would most likely look more like the Kong Temple than the coast of Skull Island

Yeah, it seems I fell for a fan concocted trailer months ago. Where is the real trailer from Comic-Con? Can anyone locate it?

I posted this on Twitter a while ago, but in this picture from Jackon's Kong it looks very similar to that structure that they are currently building on the side/front of the show building. Thought I would share on here and get everyone else's thoughts.

If Skull Island is indeed a different design than PJ's Kong, I find it odd they'd go with the 2005 design. I mean, I know they have a useable set of 3-D film for part of the ride, so it may just be a cost saving thing, but you'd figure they'd want some semblance of cross promotion.

Then again, maybe not enough of the new Skull Island design is done and they may make it a random mish mash.

on the timeline, I said this a while back and I heard it again for the opening timeframe

(Late 2015/Early 2016)

I am thinking there could be a Grinchmas media preview during Thanksgiving next year and Kong opens with it.

Kong is more ahem, universal, than picking a particular version. Most people don't know that Kongfrontation was based on the 70s Kong, because he just is.

Us nerds will notice it, but no one else will care as long as there's a giant ape.

I always thought it was kind of hilarious that KONGfrontation took cues from the 70s Kong, just because that film was, in retrospect, so damn weird.

I have a feeling the new Kong attraction will take some cues from Skull Island, but there will still be definite holdovers from the 2005 Kong. While I'm sure Universal Creative is getting a fair amount of access to the Skull Island production design, it's still in progress and stuff changes constantly and entirely. When they have the entirety of the 05 Kong, I'm sure it's tempting to just use large elements that work.

It's still going to be 2016. They got this building structure up fast, but it takes time to perfect the ride itself. Not to mention the themed exterior will take some time. This is still going fast, but all we have right now is the structure of the building. Tons of work to go.

I've been looking for it ever since it was announced, but I still can't find it.

I love the style of PR Universal does......don't say anything for a while, and let the buzz build itself. You have this massive structure visible to the public and you dont hear a peep. love it!
