In regards to the tourism and delaying travel dates I can certainly say that not being a local anymore (and having to sparce my trips out) really does make me think twice on when I want to go. Multiple times since Diagon opened Ive wanted to go and even came close but with Kong opening in a year or so it makes me wonder and want to wait. Pretty much my idea is to go to Uni as a graduation (from college) vacation and experience all of the new things that I haven't since I was last there which would include Diagon, Kong, and whatever new thing(s) they have opening this year. That way I save money and I have about a year and a half to save all of the money that I need to go on this trip. It sucks having to wait this long but I say all of that to concur with the point made that Uni has to wait in order to announce things otherwise they do lose business.

History repeats itself.

The original KONGFRONTATION was an expanded version of a single-scene attraction in Hollywood (Kong on Tram Tour).

Hollywood Kong burns down and is rebuilt.

25 years later, the new IOA KONG is, again, an expanded version of the same single-scene attraction in Hollywood (King Kong 360 3D).

I'm glad construction has picked up. Is 2015 opening out the window?

Well, actually I said that it was for the same month Universal had hoped to open Diagon...

Keep in mind, I could be absolutely incorrect on this one as it came from a new bird of a different feather.

Yes, that's why I interpreted May/June (Diagon hoped for) as late spring or early summer (Universal's favorite phrases for openings)....I hope it's a bit earlier myself, since I'm trying to time my next Universal vacation to May 2016. It would be nice if it was open for a few months and running smooth. Universal's fast construction schedules may surprise us on this one. But I hope they give it a long soft open schedule so they avoid the problems Gringott's experienced from opening before it's time....Seems to me Universal would be better off opening their new attractions in "early" to "mid" spring instead of pushing the early summer opening envelope. That way everything is ready for marketing summer prime time packages, instead of scurrying at the end of June trying to pull everything together.

Just so you know, they do push for an early ready, almost always. They pretty much nailed it with FJ. Gringott's was a total shock to many of us.

Kong appears very Disney straight forward and fun... entertaining but no huge vehicle tech surprises.

As always, thanks Teebs for your excellent info & insights...Yes, I'm really looking forward to Kong for those reasons. Thrills are really secondary to me. A great fun, good entertaining ride is paramount to my tastes in my later years. Probably why I enjoyed Hogwart's Express so much. A true E ticket in my eyes and a fully satisfying experience. Universal sure aced that one and confirmed my original predictions of a great capacity.

I would not say that. Universal needs a variety, keeping things balanced. This ride just serves a different purpose.

The show building is looking a lot more different now. Looks like some rather "interesting" changes have been made.

Yup, loving the progress on the building. I hope I can see it in person before it's closed up, I was there when it was still just a cleared plot of land.

While the RV might not be anything special, the tech used in the attraction itself is jaw dropping.

Here is an updated layout of the Show Building being built. The black has already been constructed, the green is what is being built currently. (Thanks Teebin for making a layout of the building as of 2 weeks ago.)
