Agreed, there's no way in hell that they'd use old technology like that in a new ride. I'm sure animatronics have progressed by leaps and bounds from the time Kongfrontation was designed/built and now.

I may be wrong, but I thought this rumored Kong attraction was always targeted for 2016 with the JP expansion stuff opening in 2015.

You don't know what they will use it for, maybe they will give it a facelift and all you see is a dead kong.

I'm gonna laugh if Jurassic World (rumored to be an open park) has a King Kong tribute ride in it, and this ride will be an easter egg in the film.

It would make Phil Tippets throwaway joke about the JW Rex fighting a mechanical Kong very meta.

So, I'm guessing this will be one of Universals 'scarier' rides? I feel like the bats alone will terrify the guests, but the bugs will be a whole other level. I remember how many people could not stand the bug pit scene in theaters.

Wow. Kong really sounds terrific. Already bracing for the inevitable cutbacks, but hoping for the best. I also immediately wondered about the final scene after the unload being a Kong photo op. I remember there always being a line for the big photo spot after Kongfrontation.

I've been dipping in and out of developments on this, but it really does sound exciting actually. Love the combination of indoor and outdoor scenes, that should give it a very good energy and dynamic feel each time.

Not to shed doubt on your admission there, 'cause it was probably a different time, but all the times I went to Universal pre-Mummy I never saw a single person utilizing the photo op.

I have to say, there's a nice sized chunk of land behind Thunder Falls, but it's not THAT huge. It would be very challenging to fit a large-scale indoor/outdoor attraction there with a queue, gift shop, etc.

If I ruled the world I would:

1) Demolish Thunder Falls
2) Move the JP entrance gate to where the River Adventure Splashdown is
3) Have KONG be it's own new "island" between Toon and JP. The aesthetic for both Skull Island and JP are similar, so I'm fine with the occasional P-Flyer overlooking Skull Island.

Unless he was joking, an interesting tidbit that might tie the JP expansion and Kong together.

Phil Tippett was hired as a "Dinosaur Supervisor" for the Jurassic Park films and once again he will be reunited with the entire ILM Visual Effects who are in charge of Coli Trevorrow's Jurassic World.

During the podcast, Phil wasn't really able to reveal much about the film, however he did give out one Jurassic World Spoilers that will definitely excite the viewers. He did say that a T-rex will fight a mechanical King Kong in the third act of the film, well although that seemed more of a joke than a teaser, we'll never know that might be a possibility.
