There is a lot of kid stuff to do at the parks. The entire Seuss land with all the attractions, Storm Force, Me Ship, The Olive, Popeye raft ride, Camp Jurassic is HUGE and the flyers, Hipogriff, Olivanders, Shrek, Despicable Me, E.T., Woody Wood Pecker and the entire KidZone, Simpsons(kids go on that),
Spiderman(most kids go on that) and not to mention the Simpsons spinner and Hogwarts Express are coming to the park. And besides the coasters all the rides are family oriented rides. Now i disagree on the kid friendly stuff you said but i agree that Universal needs a couple more family Disney like rides( Pirates, and Haunted Mansion).
I think my version of kid rides and yours is different. Because many of those rides you can't go on until you are taller/older. So if a family of 4 comes to the park and they have a 6 year old and 3 year old, many of those rides the 3 year old could not go on. Then if you add in the fact that a family of 5 with a 6, 3, and 1 year old... the 1 year old is sad out of luck.
Yes, if you have all your kids above the age of 5 then there are way more things to do. But now you are missing a huge chunk of families with just one child that is not tall enough to get on many Universal rides. That is why Disney attracts more families than Universal and Universal wants to play with the big boys, they have to attract all ages. Just like Disney needs more thrilling rides to attract families with older kids (which many of you same people have said the same about Disney).
Do we need spinners? NO! That is not what I am saying. They need more rides that the whole family can enjoy, just like I said. Pirates, Buzz, TSM, Haunted Mansion. They also need some dark rides that will focus on the younger generation, but might not appeal to adults (but many adults like these too). These could be rides similar to what Peter Pan, LM, are to Disney. No one, including me, is asking for spinners. Because they only appeal to the very young generation and one is enough in any park. Except MK, I like the difference between orbiter and dumbo, that to me is acceptable, but magic carpet was not needed.
I am saying you can't leave out any age group and because Universal has always been a more thrilling park almost all their rides have restrictions that do not allow every age group to enjoy them. There is nothing wrong with having rides like that, but they also need the other kind if they want to attract more families to their parks.
I liked what someone else said about elderly. I agree with this too. We no longer can go to Universal when my father-in-law is in town. He is only 65, but can't ride 80% of the rides at Universal due to his back and other "old age" issues. Where we can go to MK and he CAN ride 80% of those rides. Not worth it for him to pay the money for Universal, but totally work it for MK, AK, or Epcot. My mom is the same way, Universal is a waste of money for her and she never gets an AP because she can't go on most of the stuff. She can go on more than my father-in-law can, but she is still limited.
