^ 1930's driving goggles weren't much different! Great idea DS!

OrlandoParksNews.com just posted a ton of new Kong photos. Some mural closeups and pictures of the castle like queue structure. It's looking like the castle will be rough hewn with crude irregular building, therefore looking more in line with the rest of the structures. Maybe a hastily thrown together trading fortification or something along that nature.

They posted some really great pics. I'll be interested to see how well the mural looks at a distance once it is complete.

On the movie swap front, at least 3 different sites I frequent have been reporting that Universal got the Godzilla ride rights as part of the Skull Island swap... That didn't take long at all! (Read my last post on this thread LOL)

^ I feel the mural will become as inconsequential as the mega mural on top of the Sinbad building. No one here has ever said boo about that even though it is nearly as prominent. (how many here are asking themselves, "there's a mural on the sinbad building???"). I rest my case. :)

Never noticed a mural on the Sinbad building. Another example of why it doesn't bother me if an inconsequential unthemed part of a building can be seen if I'm standing on my head, looking west at 60 degrees, with the sun's shadow reflecting off the roof.

Oh I don't mean my post in a negative way. More just voicing my interest in seeing more :) I complete agree with everything you said. I've just been fascinated watching the entire build process of Kong. On my trip this past February with my fiancé, I probably spent at least half an hour just pointing out and explaining all the build we could see to him. He was much less enthusiastic then I was to say the least LOL

Yep it hides the roof of the theater. I'm sure UC have taken a page from Dougles Adems Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy and used the S.E.P. technology.
If UC wouldn't use the matte painting you would see the building clearly. By using an unclear impression of continious jungle and a mountain range your eyes won't focus on it. If the original set and arwork are any indication lots of sticks with sculls on it will be added to the huge wall to even more pull the focus from your eyes away from the backdrop.

Here the Sinbad building, can you see the painted backdrop?

Perhaps the 3d glasses will be said to be night vision goggles, that way we can see inside the dark ruins.

I would expect them to look like the FJ goggles. Reusing the design is very UC as of late. Idk if they'd refer to them as night-vision goggles, simply because the technology wasn't around then. They were very WWII. Probably just protection goggles or something period-related as earlier stated.

The matte backdrop, after fog, will probably not bother me as much as it does now. It's meant to disguise the building and provide dimension to the structure, so in that sense it's fine, but I still would have preferred a relief-like set. Around the Little Mermaid building, there's rockwork extended over a service road in order to completely shield view of it from Storybook Circus. But if it means having a ride of lesser quality, I'll take the simple backdrop.

Preemptive strike here: Kong is not delayed, has no relation to the film or the film's distribution changes, the attraction is still under construction, and Godzilla has no plans in the UOR resort at this time (let alone Pacific Rim).

That article was such a tragedy of writing it compelled me to read further to see if it could get any worse. Sadly, it did.

Just read the article to see how batshit crazy it was, I thought the rumors of a third gate was bad but this takes the cake.

Are you saying that the Universal to WB rumor is garbage? I know nothing about Hollywood's happenings.

God the temple looks breathtaking. It's not even done yet and (bold statement here) I think it's a better facade than hogwarts. Just unbelievable
