Thanks. The new courtyard is really Cool. Probably the other half of it will open when Springfield is done

I hope when the new courtyard is fully done they won't have their cheap fences up and exiting guests won't go through the new archway. It would be nice if they made exiting guest exit to the right side of the new archway and have more employees right before you go down the escalator before the studio tour line so people won't be walking through the entrance side of the studio tour bridge.

Has anyone heard any rumors about the Fast and Furious storyline, what physical tech we will have and what will be in the first scene?

Looks like the animation will include international crime cartels: http://traveltrade.visitcalifornia.co.uk/media/uploads/files/editor/WTM%20Sales%20Sheets/Universal%20Sales%20Sheet.pdf

If we want to be picky, the wording also suggests the new attraction won't take advantage of the new projection technique used in Despicable Me/Transformers.

Yup, looks like the 3D will be a slight downgrade from DM/TF and we'll just keep our flimsy black polarized glasses as we do for Kong.

Ah well.

Thing is, they can still make it better than Kong with the "old" tech. I'm not sure if Kong is 4K or not (never been mentioned but I don't think so, not that sharp), they can make F&F 4K and polarized 3D. Polarized 3D doesn't have to be standard HD. So I hope we at least get brighter and sharper projectors, even if the technology is a downgrade. Not surprised though.

I really like the predictions insideuniversal made.

Im just curious though, does the front projection encompasses the entire room, or does it follow the tram while it moves?

None of us should be surprised by this. There was no way that would hand out extra glasses just for this. The point of this was to mainly let us have another animation to put those glasses to good use for the tour.

Universal Studios Hollywood Goes Full Throttle with National Commercial Launching Much-Anticipated Summer 2015 Arrival of the Action-Packed Thrill Ride, “Fast & Furious—Supercharged,” During NBC’s Super Bowl Pre-Game Coverage

Universal City, California, January 30, 2015 – Universal Studios Hollywood shifts into high gear with the debut of an innovative, national 30-second commercial for its summer 2015 launch of the “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” thrill ride during NBC’s Super Bowl Pre-Game coverage on Sunday, February 1, 2015.

The gripping spot will jump-start Universal Studios Hollywood’s campaign for the eagerly-anticipated opening of “Fast & Furious—Supercharged,” a high-octane, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride and new grand finale to the world-famous Studio Tour.

“What better place is there than the Super Bowl to launch a campaign where millions of viewers huddle for non-stop, edge-of-your-seat suspense,” said Larry Kurzweil, President, Universal Studios Hollywood. “In just 30, thrilling seconds, our compelling spot resonates with the exhilaration this immersive thrill ride will deliver when it opens at Universal Studios Hollywood this summer.”

“Fast & Furious—Supercharged” will reunite stars from the Fast & Furious series in a groundbreaking mega-attraction, conceived as a new installment to the dynamic film franchise that can only be experienced at The Entertainment Capital of L.A. Featuring Vin Diesel (Dominic “Dom” Toretto), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz), Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce) and Luke Evans (Owen Shaw), “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” will catapult guests into the high-stakes underground world of fast cars in a harrowing escapade to save one of their own from an international crime cartel.

The dynamic hydraulic motion-based ride will tell an original Fast & Furious story that fuses sophisticated hyper-realistic special effects with a state-of-the-art 3D audio system and 3D-HD imagery, projected onto the world’s longest and most expansive 360-degree screen. Spanning nearly 400 feet in length to encircle Studio Tour guests within a newly constructed 65,000-square-foot structure on the legendary backlot, the sprawling custom-built screen will employ 34, 4K projectors and a sophisticated projection configuration system to fully envelope guests in unprecedented realism.

Coupled with an intense blend of thrilling visceral effects, “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” will take guests on a wild ride that begins the moment they board the Studio Tour. Exclusive interstitial content, filmed with the cast members, will be featured on the tram monitors highlighting interactions as they engage guests en route to the ride’s climatic scenes. Along the tram route and featured at the ride, sightings of numerous prop cars from the Fast & Furious series, including Dom’s iconic Dodge Charger, will enhance the story.

The adventure will culminate with spectacular action sequences that send guests careening through the streets of Los Angeles—at perceived speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour—aided by the elite team of unforgettable heroes.

Well no, they announced some great details we haven't heard before! Here is what stood out to me:

"...the sprawling custom-built screen will employ 34, 4K projectors and a sophisticated projection configuration system to fully envelope guests in unprecedented realism."

I'm glad that it'll be in 4K! So while it 99% won't use the Dolby 3D tech of Transformers, it will still be in 4K even with the polarized glasses. I wonder if the rest of the mumbo jumbo will mean that the footage will ACTUALLY be encompassing (since in Kong, that "360" gets cut in the front and back...)

"Coupled with an intense blend of thrilling visceral effects, “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” will take guests on a wild ride that begins the moment they board the Studio Tour. Exclusive interstitial content, filmed with the cast members, will be featured on the tram monitors highlighting interactions as they engage guests en route to the ride’s climatic scenes. Along the tram route and featured at the ride, sightings of numerous prop cars from the Fast & Furious series, including Dom’s iconic Dodge Charger, will enhance the story."

That's new/interesting! It looks like the storyline of "Supercharged" is going to be mixed into the ENTIRE tour and introduced in the beginning somehow and we'll see what I assume will be "live transmission" on the monitors throughout the tour of the characters from the franchise and the current nature of the "situation". Very interesting way to tie it into the entire tour. I'm just curious if they will be necessary to the storyline of the attraction.

This also confirms that we'll be seeing the picture cars before and/or after the animation as well.
