Also Supercharged will have real set props, as we're told. So maybe it'll divert any distractions. They even may rely on some of the cars, planes, and etc. like they did in the old King Kong ride. (you know the one that burnt down)

Universal is sort of damned if they do, damned if they don't when it comes to advertising tour animations. No one knows what a tour animation is, and guests might be turned away from the Studio Tour logo alone.

Then again, the alternative causes headaches for everyone involved in guest-to-guest interactions. I pity anyone working the Studio Tour trying to explain the Fast & Furious situation to guests.

It's really a shame they didn't decide to just make it a ride rather than part of the tour.

It's just like when Kong 360 opened. They did the same deceptive "it's totally a ride!!!" thing then too.

I find it insulting to a degree. How stupid do they find people?

Nah, they think their guests are stupid haha. It's just....it's so shortsighted! They KNOW there will be issues and confused guests. There are already confused potential guests everywhere online that the trailer was posted today.

Seriously...it would NOT be difficult to advertise the new animation with the tram. They can call it a "ride" if they'd like, that's fair. But I just want the Tour to get its deserved credit. It IS insulting.

The Kong advertisement where they had Kong, the tram, and guests falling out of it was awesome. Do something similar. Hell, go a bit overboard and show off a tricked out custom Tram car with cool rims and paint job in the commercial!

I was searching around for size estimations and using some measurement sites comparing Fast and Furious and Kong 360-3D and it seems you would be able to fit the entire Kong structure (excluding the tunnel in the beginning) inside F&F's main showbuilding. I know we all knew how big this thing is but that seems to put into perspective how massive it truly is, for me at least. Also can't help but notice there are a ton of HVAC units around both the preshow building and main showbuilding. I didn't care much about this project early on but each day it gets more and more promising.

Sad.

Universal Hollywood advertising has always been misleading.  The same thing happened to the Mummy's Tomb, before Revenge of the Mummy opened.

I agree with Jon. They're in a lose-lose situation when it comes to promoting it, and that's how it was with Kong. I personally don't have a problem with the commercial. Its purpose was to excite the viewer, and I'm excited. When I tell my friends about this, I'm not going to go on and on about a "ride." I'll be talking about a new ending to the Studio Tour, which features a segment/section themed to F&F that will prove to be way better than Kong.

I think express trams to F&F would be nice, but I think that's obviously not happening.

Its not difficult at all to promote it as part of the Studio Tour instead of promoting it as a standalone ride.

"Experience the all new Fast & Furious: Supercharged, on the world famous Studio Tour, only at Universal Studios Hollywood."

Something like that would work fine enough and let people worldwide who are fans of the Studio Tour know that its gotten updated. Its a plus for both fans of the F&F franchise and the Studio Tour, let them know that they may want to visit the park. Its being honest and there wouldn't be a way for people to get mislead.

I don't think they find people stupid. I think the people responsible for advertising the attractions are stupid.

Jay - I completely agree!

Be smart with your audience instead of just stooping low and pushing "ride".

I feel that Orlando's commercial was much more professional and respectful of a truly awesome experience.  Its time for USH to clean house.

That is going to be very confusing for first-time visitors.

I think many are focusing too much on the fact that they call it a "ride", and that's not the entire issue here. The whole commercial is an absolute lie. They are selling something that isn't at all what the public will really experience.

If your talking about the movie-like clips, I'm sure no one will think that is the "ride". Maybe the video on the tram like a pre-show/introduction, or screen in the show building. But I doubt they are deceiving with hype clips.

Now if your talking about the bar, and only to people moving like they are on a simulator ride, then yeah I don't think people will experience body slinging extreme awesomeness.

Because that's just the truth. The experience isn't going to be like it is in the commercial. Not only did they CALL it a new RIDE, they also made it seem like it's a standalone intimate ride experience.

It's just...so misleading.

Imagine Disney advertising Star Tours 2 with guests in a 2 person vehicle and pod racing. Yeah, guests are more aware of the history of Star Tours, but it's very similar.

Imagine advertising Shrek as a ride, and showing a commercial with a few guests in an Onion carriage, racing along with Shrek, only to find later that it's a show with shaking seats.

I know all those examples are kind of an extreme example, but it's very similar. The point is...they shouldn't be advertising something in such a misleading way, especially when they could be more creative and honest and show the new animation as a part of the tram. And especially since it will 100% cause confusion, as history has proven.

And the thing is, almost ALL commercials for attractions (in any park) have exaggerated the truth a tiny bit to make the commercial seem cooler. But I don't think any have been as misleading as Supercharged.

Here's what I would have done for the commercial.

Family/friends run up to a stand alone tram and get on. Cut the tram shaking a bit with noises of electrical wrenches and construction, and quick pan out to show the tram all tricked out, new paint job, and looking intense & customized.

Then, two of the cars from the movies ride up next to the tram on both sides, with the stars from the film in both of them.

Then it can play out like the real commercial, with one of the characters doing a countdown to the race, and then we see the two F&F cars plus the tram speed forward in a blur into a night scene of zooming around Los Angeles with explosions, the tram jumping over a few cars, etc.

Fast & Furious - SUPERCHARGED.

SEE? Sounds good, hu? It's slightly stylized, as the tram won't actually be THAT tricked out (although a new skin for the opening would be cool) or jumping over exploding cars, but it still shows that it's on the tour, makes the tram "cool", shows the racing segment and the general feel of the animation. THAT would've been cool.

Since it will open in the summer, (I could have sworn it would open in spring with springfield) I think they may create a commercial for the anniversary that reveals the new tram design along with other new things like Springfield.

If they do, I imagine it would be like...

Come, to Universal Studios Hollywood "The Entertainment Capital of LA," and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the world's largest studio and theme park! Take a ride on our newly designed trams to experience our world renown studio tour. Now, with the new addition of Fast and Furious: Supercharged! Race along side characters from the Fast & Furious movies, starring: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson and more! Also, try the new night time tour. Journey through the backlots of Universal Studios Hollywood, and experience an exciting different version of our tour, after dark.

Jump into the tv and into the beloved city of Springfield, now open. Be immersed by the city, through the amazing environment. Dine at our new restaurant, and try unique, and delicious foods, only found at the new Simpsons' Springfield USA...

It would be nice if they did anyways. I bet it would get a lot of people pumped.

I know the ad is somewhat misleading. But I think part of why they are advertising it this way is to distinguish it from old tram animation with the dancing cars on the Kuka arms.

I like your idea about the commercial.
