I think it’s okay to have nuanced feelings about this attraction without falling into one of two camps. I know that my thoughts on the attraction aren’t so black and white, and I am still trying to figure out a lot of my opinions. And, of course, I don’t believe any of us have ridden it, the “positive group” nor the “negative group”.
After all, I’m not looking to be unhappy, I’m just trying to start/sustain an intelligent discussion on a discussion board. I think some posts on both sides frustrate me because they invalidate the opinions of others and actively try to stop discussion. If we were, say, to all make the conclusion that this land is perfect, full stop, though I think it’s pretty dang close and better than most attraction lands created in the past ten years at capturing the true spirit of an IP, I guess I don’t see where the discussion is.
I think it’s fair to point out that a ride that takes place on a couch SEEMS to have more fast movements than a ride that features a sleek Go-Kart design. At the same time, I think it’s fair that if they’d built an RSR without shells, I might be peeved about the end result. For the record, part or RSR is the extensive slow-moving dark ride portion - I think there’s some way to have both, though we all know that there is no space in any current Universal park to do it.
But... I think the ride that we got looks fun! I would never say a ride is in my top five or my bottom five without having ridden it though, especially a ride with a heavy interactive aspect. If I were told to judge the VOID through a film, I would look at you as if you had two heads. It can’t be done. All you can judge is what you can see. There are still many other senses to take into account, and in this case not even sight or sound are particularly reliable.
