Aulani is awesome. I have a lab out in Honolulu so I'm there usually 2 times a year or so. If you need any tips or anything, PM me. I'd like to think of myself as a Hawaii expert :)

I have friends--one's a law firm partner, other runs a hedge fund--who bought into that "we own a part of the magic now." Didn't have the heart to point out DVC isn't even traditional timeshare, they own nothing--it's just a 99-year contract. But shows people who should be smarter get wrapped up in the nostalgia and buy into a very bad idea.

Worse... its only a 55 year contract (on a brand new one)- some, like Aulani, that have been around a few years, are only 45 years remaining.

But I digress. :)

It was an interesting discussion about Timeshares and if Uni ever gets into it, wet n wild would be the choice location. Although I love the transportation hub thought as well- free all that land up over at the new park. Exciting things in the next few years, for sure. This will be the thread to watch

that's scary, someone running a hedge fund can be easily bought into a very bad idea..

Unless you were an early buyer and you've more than made back your investment by now ;)

But if for some reason you buy DVC in today's market, I agree.

Everyone has this idea that this is all DVC is... but the only resorts they've done this at are AKL Jambo, Polynesian and now WL Boulder Ridge. The other 11-13 DVC resorts were built from the ground up.

Also I don't see much reason to criticize even changing existing rooms tbh. Any regular joe off the street can still get one of those (upgraded to DVC standards) rooms and the facilities around the resorts have seen many improvements each time they convert from hotel to DVC, seen right now with the WL conversion by adding a better pool and a new quick service and a new table service.

Only issue I have with retrofitting is it tries to hide occupancy woes. Other than that it's totally fine.

Well, that is pretty much the reason they do it. DVC could take up every single room at every Disney hotel and the place would be at or close to 100% occupancy all the time and Disney knows this.

The problem Disney has is that they are charging exorbitant amount for rooms that don't come close to the standards of the high-end UOR or Bonnett Creek hotels and certainly nothing close to the level of the only 5-Star property in Orlando... which just so happens to be on WDW property (along with Bonnett Creek).

Of course that's Disney's fault for being so greedy/arrogant.

Or that a far more successful lawyer than me doesn't remember Property Law 101. But again Pixie Dust is a hell of a drug.

Pixie Dust would be classified as a hallucination drug, and highly addictive. ;) (Example: Looking at a bathroom, but "seeing" an attraction).

This is awesome. I can't think of a better Easter egg to remember the old park.

lol, for all the talk of moving things from WNW to VB, I don't think anyone though of moving the landscaping. That's pretty smart really.

Was going to say or sell them but moving them is reasonable for them. Perfect season to do so too.

The strange thing about my image of WnW is that it was a concrete jungle with water and very little landscaping. Looking at the aerial footage, I don't know how I've got that image.

I loved the Lazy River there - it looked like what you'd expect a river in Florida to look like even if it was mere feet from International Drive at some points.

Probably because it was 'just enough.' The other local parks have a lot more than it.

I'm a local an that's always been my image. Wet N Wild is built in the middle of an Urban developed area. It makes you feel that way.

Made a quick drawing...
Basically, where the actual waterpark stood, would be the hotel and where the parking lot was would be turned to Parking Garages.

I imagine they would go higher than 6 floors here since it wouldn't interrupt any sight lines. Also you got some greenery in the lake there haha :bonk:

I like the layout of the garages, there may need to be two toll booths?

Greenery in the lake wouldn't surprise me as Universal has said in a lawsuit that they plan to fill in part of the lake.

Are these garages to replace the current ones? The idea of 18,000 cars descending onto I Drive at once would give me nightmares.
