What does Jurassic Park need?

I don't think they will scrap JP isle simply because the novels are classic and, beyond that, children LOVE dinosaurs. The play area is fantastic (not that I play in in any more >_> and the River Adventure is fun especially in summer. I miss the Triceratops encounter they used to have. I think adding more atmosphere characters (they used to have Hammond and Malcolm) and animatronic dinosaurs like the triceratops or Lucky would work just fine. JP isle, despite the books and films being geared towards adults, is really meant more for children then anything and in that respect it's still on target.

Yeah you both make good points (random guy/scarlet) it would probably be similiar to marvel and kids do love dinos and if it is meant for kids i mean they all ready have suess landing, soon to come HP. I dont know maybe Transformers can replace something at USF.

I vote for a B&M Hyper Coaster placed between Ripsaw Falls and River Adventure with a helix over the roof of Thunder Falls and another around the JP Island Gate. A great code name would be something to do with a waterfall.

For as much as I hate to say... "Omgz I think they should put in another roller coaster!1" I honestly think a totally immersible family style coaster would fit well in the area, and would compliment the already friendly nature of the Island. Possibly something along the lines of this would do:

A family style roller coaster is a good idea, but Flying Unicorn (or whatever Potter name it's getting) is right around the corner. I'm all for either the Jeep Safaris (which probably won't fit anywhere), or putting Helicoptours behind Thunder Falls. :thumbs:

Flight of the Hippogrif is the correct name of Flying Unicorn. HelicopTours was ear-marked for the plot of land that Potter basically took up, to the right of the restrooms next to Pizza Preditoria.

Yeah but Universal would just half-ass a dark ride like they always do. Cut corners on effects and buy second rate animatronics instead of doing it right. At least a hyper coaster is thrilling and fun regardless of the park. Either way, NONE of it is happening for real

I completely disagree. I find IOA to lack a mid level coaster that bridges the gap between the likes of Unicorn and Dragons - and if I had it my way, that'd be something that would be taken care of in the park. For as much of an "intense" theme as Mummy was designed to have, its a very accessible roller coaster for families, and I've personally used that particular attraction multiple times to introduce people to larger - high speed - rides. The only thing that IOA really has that exposes the family to high speeds and drops is Ripsaw, and we all know the trouble that it gives guests. I think its something that the park needs.

I think families are "attracted" to challenging attractions. My argument for this has always been Test Track... a relatively mild ride by industry standards, but something that catches the guest's eye as it hauls ass around the ride building at 65 mph. While rides like Hulk and Dragons promote the same thing, they certainly carry a fairly high height requirement. I think a solid family coaster would really help the park. Something a little more intense than the Disney coasters, but at the same time something that Mom, Dad, Timmy, and little Sarah can all experience as one unit.

Your points are valid. The whole design of IOA was flawed in the first place. They worried way too much about a Six Flags market, but then didn't put enough things into the park to keep the Six Flags market they apparently wanted happy. The stuff they put in to appeal to that Six Flags market is a turn off to the typical Disney family market. They see the park as threatening thanks to the giant roaring roller coasters and opt not to visit. Those who do visit are greeted with the realization that their younger kids are too short for almost *everything* - even the park's marque attraction, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. There's next to *nothing* that the family can actually experience together there.

And that's not even to touch on the flow or of the concrete jungle feel of the place.

I just don't want to see another obnoxious coaster screwing up the good theming they have in place at IOA. Jurassic Park deserves better.

The Hyper Coaster would have been VERY well themed. Lots of rock work, waterfalls, trees. The best I could describe the entry to is what Manta ended up looking like - with lakes, bridges, etc, but in this case add in ravines and even better rockwork.

Well don't get your hopes too high; Even if it gets posted, it was canceled a *long* time ago. Like completely dead in the water canceled, not the "indefinite hold" that the Monsters, Inc. coaster is facing.

I don't see anything more obnoxious about a mid-sized family coaster than I do that 100 ft industrial sized cream colored building that protrudes straight out of those beloved 'thematics' you speak of.

Adding scenery isn't good enough for me. Unless you are attacked by a dino, I don't want to see it in JP.

I don't know what building you're even referring to. If you want a family coaster, go ride frickin' Flying Unicorn. Family coaster. That's an oxymoron as it is.

I'm not sure where all the IOA hate is coming from on this board. After all, it is Orlando United. If you hate Universal that badly, go post on a Disney-only board.
