Typically re-assigned. There are occasional instances where you're moved to seasonal if you don't have additional cross-training, but that's very rare. If you're full time they'll get a role for you.
I really enjoyed that year, it was probably my favorite year they've executed.
Body Collectors in retrospect was the best house, but looking at the diversity of answers on that poll speaks volumes.
HHN 17 had legit 4 shows and all of them had repeat viewing built in. The fact that they had the Freakshow and had different acts (even though it was mostly Brushwood) helped crowds a lot. Couple with Jack's show, and RHPS and B&T it REALLY moved crowds around.
This conversation comes up all...
I think it's this and coupled with the fact that the event 10 years ago was already supporting 8 houses and 4 shows, and now the event NEEDS two more shows and it's a lagoon show (that's broken) and a stage show.
As far as shows goes, the event really should have something with a lot of repeat...
Checked off a haunt bucket list & hit Netherworld this year and I can't recommend it enough.
It's like they bought everything spooky you've ever seen at IAAPA, HauntCon, or Transworld and made it into a show scene with actors. The fact that one house was probably 50 shows scenes and 30 minutes...
I've ran this house 4 times and I've never seen this. I'm HOPING I get to see it executed, but if I don't there's always next year. I know they've done this in the past before as has Universal, and it tends to be great.
A lot of BIZARRE things that are actually not reflections of attendance are pulled into AECOM. From my understanding if a private event has a count that is submitted, that's taken into account, separate ticketed events also count, etc. I wouldn't go so far to say the numbers are made up, but...
I don't think it's sustainable, or even that feasible. Those 10 weeks put a ton of strain on USF, but from a staffing standpoint you have to rally an incentive if you're going to bring in seasonal. I still stand by the statement that Entertainment would be the easiest to staff, people *want* to...
That's still absolutely the case. I know plenty of actors who would also happily come in and do Active Backup, but HHN fights them on availability. I get it, but also if you want the holes to be filled, open up more slots...
The actors are there, the problem is retaining them.
I think the bigger operational nightmare is keeping F&B, Events, Attractions, Turnstiles, Guest Services, etc. open every night. If you go that route I think the biggest thing the event needs to do is tie in an seasonal event bonus. $500 if...
Just remember, nothing was as much of a mess as 23.
As far as mid-years, absolutely.
This reminds me a lot of 2010 or 2012.
2010 had VERY mid houses to me, but really fun streets.
2012 had okay houses & streets. But had big atmosphere problems ALL around. But it tried a lot of new things.
It definitely wasn't dead, but I will say it felt "normal", minus some actors. But even with less pop-up F&B the event didn't feel disgustingly slammed. So I'm very hopeful about next Monday as well.
