Really? why would that be? and it is not like Disney will do anything major with Marvel anyway. Look at the great opportunity with Avatar and all we are getting is 2 same old technology rethemed attractions... good for them! NEEEEXT!!! I mean, if Comcast could take DC for Six Flags then I would say, give rights back to Disney and BTW! Uni paying Disney to give them their rights? Shouldn't be all the way around?

Universal has a long way to go before they are #1 in Orlando. I don't care how much they have done so far, the majority of the GP that visits Orlando comes here for Disney or Harry Potter. And the majority of HP people spend 4 days at Disney and 2 or 3 at Universal. I am not saying Universal is not making great progress, they are. Nor am I saying they will never overtake Universal, they can. But Disney is not going to lay down (evident from SWL) and let this happen. They also have a name that people just gravitate to when people have kids. It is not just as simple as you make it out. It could be 20+ years before there is a shift to Uni being #1. They need way more hotels, the 3rd park, way more family friendly stuff, etc. They also need to get people to visit them that have gone to Disney for years. I still can't convince people to try Universal. Even those that now LIVE in Orlando and moved here to be closer to the parks. I got them to try Disney, but they won't try Universal. I will get them to eventually. But everyone I finally convince to try Universal always comes back with the same comments. The new Harry Potter lands are great, but the rest of the park doesn't have Disney Magic. They may go back again, but not for a long time. Every single one of them. I haven't made a fan out of any of them. Even people without kids tell me the same thing. It is so frustrating. Heck my own husband would go to Disney any day, but I struggle to get him to Universal. I finally got him to see the Christmas stuff after years of me wanting to go to see it and honestly it was a huge letdown compared to Disney or Sea World for both of us. Universal needs to work on the whole package to overtake Disney and it is a long road for them.

Universal Japan is already screwing up with Tokyo Disney's gate numbers to the point they are pushing expansions for 2020. Look at everything going on, Burke got passed by Disney along with Katzenberger and both team up right now. Right now Comcast is looking to essentially show they are better off without Disney.

Well there are some that are addicted to Disney, you can tell them to sit and roll over and as long is Disney brand they would do it. Disney does have the family market for sure, but their problems begin when those kids turn 13+ year old. That's when cute just looks cute, and awesome starts to sound more tempting. Also we need to stop talking about SWL, because we wont see that anytime soon... Lets start talking about it in 2018 when construction is about 2yrs away from it's opening date, if there is no typical delays... So right now the best they have is Avatar to competewith, then you can bring Disney Springs "maybe", Frozen at Epcot "I guess". So it's hard for me to understand why people think of SWL as a direct respond to Diagon Alley.... by the time SWL is finished, DA will be about 7yrs old "so not a valid point" the only thing that can be used as a DA respond is New Fantasyland... But if SWL is their true respond to DA years and years after, then SWL has to not only deal with DA, but also with Kong, new Hulk, F&F, Race Through NY, Volcano Bay, maybe Nintendoland?, HP's Ministry of Magic phase still a maybe or even a possible near to completion 3rd gate... and of course lets not forget Hello Kitty Store lol. Since it's on the same quality level to the new Disney's "major attractions" ideas.

If this does happen in DCA, it won't be all bad. It'll be a clear signal that the rest of the area will get a Marvel expansion. Sacrificing ToT for a (possibly) "bad" version just to get a couple new Marvel rides soon down the road doesn't seem completely awful.

SWL is not competing against anything. I am not saying who has the best expansions or which ride beats which ride. You don't have to convince me that Disney has sat on their hands and done nothing the last 10 years. I am talking about Universal becoming #1 over Disney. This will not happen overnight. This will be a long gradual process and things like SWL will slow down this process. The issue with 13+ kids wanting more thrills is that not every child even 13+ likes thrills. My daughter is a thrill junky and loves it. But only one group of friends I have have kids that are the same way. Everyone else has kids that won't even do Space Mountain. Some won't even do Thunder Mountain. My one friend has a daughter who is almost 11 and barnstormer is her speed. No joke. She is taking her kids to Universal this summer, we will see how that goes. The other problem is that families deal with a mix range of kids for a long time. So if your oldest is looking for more, but your youngest is still into Disney then you are doing both or just going with the youngest. Very rarely will a family just go to Universal if they have young kids that won't enjoy it. There is a lot of things like this that cause Disney to still be #1.

I feel sometimes the Uni fanboys are like the news people when it comes to Trump. With Trump it was like, this time he did it, he lost voters and will never get the nomination. But guess what now he has the nomination (BTW, this statement does not reflect how I feel about him getting the nomination, just how wrong the news pundits were). With Disney it is like, this time they did it, they didn't build it fast enough, they took away a prized ride, they added crap scavenger hunts vs. real rides, they spent too much on MM+, etc. I feel like it is people saying, "This time Disney did it, they are going to fail and start to lose money". But it isn't going to happen. Even I fell into this trap once. I saw their numbers decline the one summer and thought, this is it. Universal finally got them, and whelp the next year the numbers were back up and even stronger.

The brand is too strong and it isn't just people who eat, breath, and live for Disney. My one friends have really nothing Disney in their house and they come every year to Disney, stay at the top level resorts on property, get a dining plan (they once got it free and loved it so much they continued to buy them), and each year stay longer and longer. They see the faults (DHS having hardly anything), but they still come back because they have a good time. Their kids enjoy it and it is their yearly vacation. They don't really know where else to go that their kids would enjoy this much. So they come back year after year and have no thoughts to go to Universal since their kids are not thrill type kids. They also like that they fly in, get a free shuttle, bags are at hotel, worry about nothing trip. Adding Universal means trying to figure out how to get to Universal and packing up and changing hotels. All things they are not willing to do. They are the type of people I talk about when I say GP. Not my Disney crazed friends who have a Disney Facebook page and their house has Disney everywhere. Those would be the Disney freaks that are blind to all faults they have.

Someone on Magic who is trusted with Disneyland info says the ride could be like Gringotts where it's a coaster with plenty of dark ride scenes. To me I think something like that should be for all the Avengers and not just Cap. If they're worried about theming they wouldn't be shoving Gaurdians in the Tower.

That's been the rumor since day 1. I'd love to see it be something more

The original rumor came from I believe WDWMagic, and then it blew up. Now; it seems that Micechat is the one backing it up for DCA.

Micechat has been backing it for DCA for sometime now, this was more of a confirmation that it seems to be definitely happening.

My feeling has always been that it was a purposeful leak from people at Disney that opposed it to try to stop it before it got the green light. At least that's my assumption after reading the early posts and the resultant reactions.

The thing is that TOT is still a big highlight in DCA's attraction roster. Whether that says something about DCA currently as a park or how great even lesser clones of TOT are, it's still a huge loss in some decent placemaking at the park. In fact, it's one of the first things they got right back in 2004.

Can't take all the credit. Joe (@testtrack321) helped out tremendously, and we received a few bits of advice from a couple people who are legal savvy.
