Good on both of you then... Now instead of debating about the issue, I have a nifty article to send them to! :-P

It is a good read and hopefully ends all these ridiculous rumors and false information that seems to sometimes go in circles when it comes to this thing.

Excellent recap of everything.

The one (very minor) thing you got wrong was no more testing of GoG characters after that event. There were multiple other closed events (in MK) where Starlord was used, but again it was a closed event. They've never had him out during regular park hours.

Now that I've read this it seems Disney only has advertising rights for Guardians movies in WDW but can't use the Marvel name, though I do remember posters that clearly did say Marvel on them. I guess that's the only exception. Strange how even Disneyland is restricted from using the name. I guess Big Hero 6 is all they've got concerning Marvel in WDW but since the movie didn't explode at the box office I doubt we'll get more than the M&G. Now I'd just like to know why trusted insiders were lead to believe that Disney did have the rights to Guardians.

You're missing the point. They don't have advertising rights to Guardians. Name and advertising is in media representations. Example: having an advertised attraction online that is "Marvel's GotG Preview" or just "GotG Preview." Look at Big Hero 6's use at Japan when Spider-man is offered at USJ. We've just touched the beginning of this, we wanted to present a set of rules to apply to situations.

So we are meant to infer that “The Marvel Action Universe” (which is from where the 60 mile prohibition seems to stem) actually pertains to ANY competing Marvel attractions, and not the specific, so-called “planned Retail concept” mentioned in the body of that section’s text and given that name? Unless I missed something, the verbiage about the 60 miles thing seems to relate only to a prohibition on that, so I’m assuming “The Marvel Action Universe” actually means something far more broad, yes?

Additional observation, I believe star lord and the guardians of the galaxy franchise has already been connected to the avengers family due to the agents of shield show. The Kree are used in both.

Please do keep trying to break this information down because it seems like there is so much conflicting information. Whereas insiders back on magic saying it still is on and GOTG can be used freely and openly at WDW from people who tend to have strong track records aand the contract allows while on here, its a no can't happen even happen which based on information presented I can definitely agree with.

I mean... There's only so much we can say. If they choose to ignore it, then that's on them. We presented the article and referenced the big points and have received no push back that we were wrong.

Only input was Seth suggesting Marvel Action Universe was a themed entertainment center they were trying to start in the 90s. Even then that 60 miles thing stands.

Take it for salt (even as is this rumor has truth), from Screamscape regarding on DCA's possible version;

Screamscape sources have confirmed for us that the Guardians of the Galaxy transformation for the Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror attraction at Disney California Adventure is 100% locked in now and happening. While we don't know exactly when the ride will close down (best guess is sometime after summer, either in fall or early winter) the plan is to have the new Guardians version up and running in time for the May 2017 opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie premier.

As we previously rumored, the overall theme of the building will now be based around the character from the first film known as The Collector, or more importantly, his collection of rare and unique artifacts gathered from around the galaxy. I've been told that the story will essentially be somewhat similar to the unique story told in Tokyo DisneySea's Tower of Terror...but with a Marvel/SciFi spin to it all. As we saw in the first Guardian's film, sometimes the items gathered by The Collector can be a bit temperamental, and even explosive.

This will be the starting block for what will eventually become a Marvel themed section of the park it seems, but the main problem is that the transition from the old "Hollywood" theme into the new SciFi theme is going to be quite jarring and sudden, to say the least. So it should be interesting to see how this plays out as the first Marvel themed attraction for the US market.

Well that confirms it can't be used in Florida for sure with that villain.

Is the assumption that it will be a temporary overlay only like what originally stated on 'the other forum?' I don't really see how much they can change, and make it really good as a perminate attraction, with far less than a year to retheme things if Screamscape happens to be right this time.

From what it seems on the "other" site, GOTOT will be permeant for DCA; so it can act as a stepping block for adding more Marvel at DLR.

Then I am really worried for this. It looks like it's going to be a rush job, and when it comes to Disney, that is never a good thing.

To me, I put it at this.

Both SS and MC is reporting that WDI intends on having GOTOT launch possibly along-side the release of the upcoming sequel. And if both sites are correct that if TOT closes later this year; I wouldn't be surprised to see it close around Labor Day (or sometime shortly after). As from what MC reported; the entire Outside is getting rethemed along with the interiors to match the setting.

It also makes me extremely worried; as I have a feeling that its going to be rushed and poorly executed to make a few Disney fans frustrated (It is even though, not as loved as the WDW version; still iconic for DCA).
