From what it seems on the "other" site, GOTOT will be permeant for DCA; so it can act as a stepping block for adding more Marvel at DLR.

Quick Q: @BriMan is it in the forum rules that we can't name other forums?

You can name other sites, issues come with linking and cross pollinating (here's a copy of exactly what I saw on this other site!) Brian's busy so sorry dude if I'm speaking out of turn. ;)

But this is O.K. with news sources right? Like I'll link to a WDWMagic article from their blog, such as a construction update, but I don't link to their forum page.

My feeling on this is that the Screamscape guy is probably pulling his information from the MiceChat thread, so we may just have parroting of a rumor that may still be far from the truth.

He makes some good points, but the nostalgia factor hangs heavy on this one.

1. The Collector can't be used in Florida even if Guardians can. Why not? Because he never was just a guardian villain, yea he possessed Gamora's body at one point but his ties are to working with Thanos to take down the Avengers.

2. That also means they have to add screens to the shaft and lose the doors because how are we going to know the reason we going up and down are because they are fighting? Which means the most thriling part of the ride and my fav part of looking out at the park and seeing how high we are will be gone.

I never said I thought it would come to Orlando. If you read the article it explicitly said that. The article was in reference to the one at Anaheim, and it makes many good points regarding it.

That's the question that many Disney fans are likely asking, as rumors intensify that Disney will in fact switch the theme of its Tower of Terror ride at Disney California Adventure (and perhaps even at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida) as early as late this year.

@quinnmac000 the end of the article makes it clear the "perfect world" scenario he is referring to is specifically for DCA. He put it in parentheses for Orlando to show that it's not the focus of the article.

Anyways, you make a good point here. This is why I would never like it coming to Orlando. A conversion of ours wouldn't even make sense due to its location in Hollywood. DCA apparently has plans to completely redo HollywoodLand into a Marvel area and this would not be a terrible way to do it.

On the flip side, it would be interesting to get another ride just for variety sake and I would be interested to see what they did. The article mentions some interesting plot ideas that in theory could work (more or less). I especially think his comparison to the Tokyo ride shows how it could be redone well.

Honestly if they wanted to get rid of the twilight zone theme on the TOT I'm fine with it. But if you are going to do it, do it with something that makes sense. Like Doctor Facilier and voodoo spirits trying to take you to the other side through use of the abandoned hotel in New Orleans. Bam makes sense.

Sorry. All these ideas for repurposing the Hollywood Tower Hotel, including TPI's, are all terrible. The only change I MIGHT be okay with is Disney adding suites, a restaurant, swimming pool and gym and making it the 4th onsite hotel at DLR. :ears:

I honestly can't really believe what I just read. I just lost a fair amount of respect for Niles' opinion.

Someone needs to quit the Pixie Dust. It rots the brain you know. The moms comment is also cringe worthy.

To me, if TOT goes away of its current theme at DHS; i'd much rather see a quick change to make it more original with no IP what-so-ever, apposed to the use of an IP.

Incorporate some of the elements from TDS's version, and include new elements to the ride itself (excluding the tiki god).

Update from the Spirited Rumour person...

The WDW version is still stuck in limbo for a list of operational and logistical reasons exclusive to the what was once an amazing vibrant and dynamic theme park and working studio. -Post #3121, Pg 157, Marvel coming to WDW, WDWMAGIC forums

aka logistical most likely being legal. (my opinion)
