This is pure speculation, but I feel like this will be another year where Murdy may hold off on the Conjuring. If it was going to happen soon, it would've been last year when the sequel came out. Now that ship has sailed and I think he'll want to wait until the third one comes out. Besides, there will be too many opportunities to cram into six slots to allow it to happen. Besides Conjuring, we're looking at AHS, Hellraiser, Stranger Things, Alien, Resident Evil, The Mummy, Chucky, Saw, Trick 'r Treat, It, (Maaaaybe) The Shining, and maybe even the Exorcist again.
Although I wouldn't be ecstatic to see a repeat, and Murdy understands that I and several other fans feel the same way, but the Exorcist was super popular last year and I feel like there's more that Murdy could've done with it. Maybe he'll want to bring it back one more year since that was his dream property and make it more on scale with what Orlando did. If he did this, at least it wouldn't be a copy + paste repeat like AVP was (Man that pissed me off in 2015. Our precious sound stage was wasted on a repeat). I really wouldn't want this to happen, but it may sound very tempting to say "screw the fans" and do it one more time for the reasons I just mentioned.
I seriously doubt we're getting the Shining. We all know how Mr. King is with his rights on that. If we are getting that, then I guess I'll be a monkey's uncle.
That makes sense. They can try and get creative like they did with Halloween 2 but I guess those Pumpkin heads were more so a reference toward the cover/Halloween 3.
I have to hand it to Murdy for thinking outside the box on Halloween. That was a pretty cool ending.
