Nope. Universal is going to build their own Entertainment/Dining complex on I Drive less than a mile from the Skyplex location.
Ah... well it's a similar concept. They don't want people seeing that big arse thing when they really want people to go to their new entertainment district (former Wet 'n Wild location I presume).

Well that's just bad luck.

I know Miami gets this stigma of drugs and stuff because of Scareface and the 80's, but it's hardly a Crime Capital nowadays. I mean, sure there is crime - especially in specific areas - but West Palm has a worse record than us in crime these days. As far as "crime capitals in the US", I'd look more to Detroit and St. Louis than anywhere in Florida.

According to the Sun Sentinel, Miami Dade County has about triple the crime rate of Palm Beach County, although PBC has just about half the population, if you double PBC's numbers MDC would still be higher.

South Florida crime rates drop again; find your city - Sun Sentinel

And this site shows the odds may ever in your favor of being involved in a crime in the City of Miami versus West Palm Beach

Well, it is an anti-competitive move, but specifically concerning Universal's plans for The Wet n Wild plot.

I bet Uni's project planned for I Drive will be taller than 200'.

It's a little hypocritical of them to use height as a reason to try and tear down this project then if they plan on going above 200' themselves. Of course I don't see them coming close to 500', but still.

Orlando is nothing compare to other major international cities. Parts of Paris, London, Prague, etc can be very unsafe places. And especially compared to the US crime capital you have down the road called Miami!

That said, I don't let my guard down where ever in the world I visit.
Orlando's crime numbers look low because it's only taken into account city limits. Orange County however, much different story. Us Locals combine everything to be "Orlando" as a whole Until you begin venturing 20 - 25+ miles away.

So why are they fighting the Slyplex and not the iSquare Mall, then? I would think that would be much more of a threat.

I'm not saying I back that statement as gospel, but the only two times i've been there (total of 4 days), I got my phone stolen at a McDonald's and was defrauded at a gas station

I'm from Memphis, a concealed carry is gospel to protect yourself from walking the dog to sitting at an intersection and will end a car jacking quick plus you don't have to worry about recidivism if done right. The cops will thank you.

Thanks, but no thanks. I don't need a gun. Don't want to end up on the news and when they say "A Florida man...", everyone follows with "of course he's from Florida...".

Plus I just don't care for guns.

This is from bioreconstruct @bioreconstruct posted Nov. 2nd. Look at how much Poler Coaster ruins the skyline OMG!

^ I don't believe that is accurate but hey. I think the google earth 3D that was presented recently is more on the money.

Yeah the polercoaster model height is accurate in google earth (double check in GE by adding a placemark and adjusting the altitude of the placemark to verify) The bioreconstruct photo is off on the math since its assuming sea level.

Universals actions here are indefensible yet some will try.

Basically paid a politician off for his help in trying to kill off potential competition.

Agreed, I thought it was site lines at first. But the more information that comes out, the more it seems it was to kill competition for their plans for the wet n wild plot.

How are those casinos in FL doing?
Yeah, what Disney has done there and in many other instances is also indefensible. That simply is how big money influences politics in the modern age. Disney has been doing it since the establishment of Reedy Creek Improvement District. Universal has been severely impacted by Disney doing this exact same thing (where's that I-Drive Corridor Monorail?).
