There’s tons of stuff from throughout the series history. But specifically for the NES and SNES games, I believe the Mario 3 and Mario 2 ground themes play on the Note Blocks. Super Mario World’s credits theme plays in a few locations (like when you leave the land) and I believe the Castle theme plays inside Bowser’s Castle.Music. I know there are sound effects dating back to those games.
I can’t confirm this sinceI haven’t found footage of people going inside, but I’m pretty confident the slot machine room will play the Mario 2 character select theme. And of course, you have the Classic Mario underground theme in the tunnels.
The cohesion problem is setting. Yoshi’s Island has a different setting than 3D World (a game he isn’t even in). As Alicia pointed out, this was probably done because most of the ride is outside, and the land has a 3D World aesthetic. The ride could have used another interior section, but it’s not the end of the world. Just a critique to keep in mind for future attractionsIf that's the story I'm confused what the cohesion problem is.
But "Find the eggs" is not a story. It's a concept. The ride is not a story. It's a scavenger hunt and we travel through a series of tableaus that allow us to finish that scavenger hunt.
