I, personaly, like the ride. I haven't been to IOA since Rockit opened so I can't speak to the condition and I had a key card so I don't know about the que... but as far as the ride it is more fun than Stanley falls or the Tidal Wave and I enjoyed it. I in no way think it needs to be torn down and found it more to my liking than Splash Mountain.

Sooo I guess your not a fan of Potter then  Seriously though if you ever enjoyed Spiderman and couple that with Potter its worth a visit I assure you, even if your not a fan of the franchise. As for Dudley it has its highs and lows just like EVERY log ride there is. Dudley, JTA, JPRA, and Splash mountain limp into there refurbs each and every time. The one I feel the worst for though is Splash Mountain. With Big Thunder going down instead its gonna have to wait until January for a refurb which will put it at two years at that point.

Actually I am, at first I didn't care for Potter but forced myself to watch them when the land came closer to a reality so I would be familar. As it got darker I liked it more and became a fan of the movies.
Just havent felt the need to go there yet, and I wasn't going to spend $30 to walk in the door early at HHNs. Maybe this year, who knows.

Splash Mountain can justify it's tranquil segments by having amazing AAs, music, and story. Ripsaw tries to have Splash Mountain length and scope, but without any of the depth.

So sick of that ride.

The main story is fairly simple on the ride, but there is a "sub-plot" concerning Snidely and the mountain you ride thru. From the queue, it looks like Snidely is attempting to turn the mountain into a theme park ( a truly evil notion). How in the world that figures into what we experience on the actual ride is beyond me though. If anyone can explain this, thanks (you can PM me if you need to).

Ok, ok I have to put in my two cents for this thread! I use to work at this ride and yes, I use to wear the funny costume too! I was really saddened to hear about the condition of the ride from Cwoolboy.. I always thought the ride itself was great and at the very end you plummet over the edge of the falls which, mind you back in the day had no restraint system which made my stomach turn every time I watched a set of logs go over and had to be ready to push the E-Stop whenever a kid or grown up stood up. Don't get me started on the restraints but such is life, ugh! Any way, best of luck to Universal.. I really hope they stay on top of the touch ups and general maintenance. I know last I heard the Hulk is in bad shape too which is a shame also! Any ways, thanks for reading! :)

Keep in mind everyone that Dudley wasn't meant to open with the park like it did. The original intentions were to have Dudley open another year after the opening of IOA to give people an incentive to return to the parks. There were several scenes that ended up being omitted from the attraction when they decided instead to open it with the park in fear that there weren't enough major thrill rides for people to enjoy. So, in other words, the ride was rushed.

I still find Dudley to be a fantastic water ride. The animatronics may not be that impressive, and there may be areas where one wishes more were going on, but all in all it's still a fantastic ride. The story isn't that hard to follow. Snidley has kidnapped Nel from her dressing room and Dudley is on a mission to save her from him. You guys that are bitching about the story must be on your cell phones during the ride. Hell, even the opening scene of the ride features a scene that shows Snidley taking Nell. As far as Splash Mountain being better than Dudley, that's just not true. Dudley's drop is better, not to mention that Dudley has three of them. Not only that but, in my opinion, Dudley's story is way better established throughout the ride.

I love this ride. I feel like I'm right in the middle of a cartoon. However as mentioned the ride does need to be repainted and the animatronics need to be fixed/replaced. I've noticed this the past few years that they don't function properly. But I prefer this to Popeye. Love all the little gags they throw in. Crossing. Double Crossing. Wontyabe Mine. Great ride that just needs some work

Rode twice this morning and its in bad shape. Two animatronics missing, the mine car on the lift hill was missing its figure, and the railroad track figures were missing.

Why aren't there two of every animated character commissioned? Have one in a box ready to be deployed overnight while the other is fixed and put in a box until a year is up. why why why...

When I rode Dudley on our last trip, and even though I think it's a great ride, it is operating in rough shape lately. On my ride I noticed the same things you guys did. Nell and Snidley are missing from the mine cart at the beginning, everyone but Snidley and the mayor were missing in the train track scene, the Snidley vs Dudley pulling on the lever animatronic wasn't moving, and the audio seemed messed up in several of the scenes. The animatronics that WERE there, however, all seemed freshly painted and sparking new outside of a few. Hopefully they're all being freshly painted and will return ASAP.

One of my all time favorite attractions. I was surprised with the missing animatronics, but the ride was great. I do hope they can fix the audio glitches, and upgrade it a little bit.

I think they need new boats. Maybe one that sits 4 instead of five, because for a tall guy like myself it's very uncomfortable and a pain to get in and out of. I think the lap bars have a lot to do with that. Now there strict about stretching your legs all the way out and tall people can't get the front seat.

Also a new paint job would be nice, those yellow walls are pretty much brown and as of August 25 the Nell and Snidley AA at the beginning is still gone. I wonder what the deal with that is.

Love the ride but as mentioned it needs a lengthy refurb

Yeah on my trip last June, on the day before and after jtsalien went on the ride, I was disappointed that there were missing AA's and some of the speakers before the first drop weren't hidden which gives away the immersed feeling of the ride. They also need to do something about the area of the first drop and going up for the final drop. I agree they need a lengthy refurb, and I would do it during Dec-Apr. just so they can close it during the cold days when no one goes on the ride. As long as the ride is improved, I will be happy.
